Here is a shot of the front seats for the 40. Explorer seats that have had a little extra padding added to the headrest area:

Pair of Merkur seat that we patched up. originals were trashed, customer bought another set of covers in slightly better shape. we took the best from both sets and made one set of covers:

and last is a pair of arm rests from a lincoln towncar. first is original, second is recovered. factory cream vinyl with red Gucci. if i remember correctly, we put the same Gucci on the headliner as well:

Got a little more done on the 40 this week. Both front door panels have been covered, and the rear has been started.

Custom made arm rests. I made all 4 the same size, but the rears will need to be shortened about 5".

Blank Canvas:

Template for arm rest:

Shaped:

Covered:

Had to make a "pod" for the pop out cup holders. They were hitting the door and not sitting flat on the panel.

Panel design:

one finished:

laying out the rear:

the "point" on the rear arm rest will be facing the "point" on the fronts. I think it will look pretty slick.

started working on the wiring behind the dash. what a cluster! all the gauges seem to work other than the fuel gauge. he probably needs the sending unit anyways. just need to clean up all the old wiring and only use what's needed.

Been a crazy week. Haven't touched this at all. Boss wants it done by Friday the 10th. I just LOL.

Anyways, I did a headliner in a 73 Camaro yesterday. Black with silver stripes. turned out pretty good. Guy said he has almost 50k invested in the car. sounded good, but was a 25' car.

I also recovered a bench seat for a late 90s F150. Started life as a light grey vinyl and cloth. We did a charcoal vinyl. Perf in the pleated inserts, and just flat vinyl on the rest.

before:

After:

One other thing, (no pics) I covered a headliner in a 2010 Ford Flex today. What a PITA! The windshield has to be removed in order to get the headliner out of the car. No way around it. Then covering the board was a pain. It's probably 10-12 feet long, with some really deep curves.

Holy shit! I would have never imagined having to remove a windshield to get a headliner out, but I guess it makes sense because the Flex has such a big interior.

it's difficult, but not the most complicated. work on an mid 90s landrover discovery. the board measures out around 62" and the widest we can get material is 60".

they are all getting more complicated each new model year. crew cab f250-350s that have the big floor console with shifter require pulling both front seats plus that console just to get the headliner board in and out.

newer volkswagons have some BS nuts that "float" in cages that dont' work well when putting the screws back in. lots of great designs!

oh, the flex's back door measures out around 48" diagonal and the board is around 60" wide at the widest. it's even a tight squeeze out the windshield. probably all headliners are put in the car before any glass goes in.

Worked most of the week on it this past week. Got the dash in, and most of the wiring done. Glass company came and got all the windows put in. Also built the front center console. The back half still needs to be covered, but waiting on an Ipod docking station before we can do that. The switches control varies accessories he has.

console:

switches:

power point in the back:

and a good shot of the package tray:

started working in the truck. got all the panels refit and the ones that needed to be recut have been. have a design in mind for it. should be very similar to the door panels. more pics to come this week.
