Default am I an ******* or just someone who doesn't "sugarcoat" it ?

Sometimes, on other Ranger sites, (ok, even this one) I can be an ******* when it comes to dumb things like people making a post in a thread that last had a comment in it a year ago, or someone asking about "tire sizes" when there clearly is a "chart of maximum tire sizes" sticky. Or, people asking all kinds of questions in the "Introduction" section. Tom Made a sticky entitled "Read this. No, Really"
and it's obvious many didn't. I also can be a ass when it comes to people asking opinions and then getting upset when i say what I think. If you want an opinion, you have to expect good AND bad responses.
As stated in the title of my thread, I will not sugarcoat my opinion when
someone asks for it. (but, i will try to be respectful)
If anyone is curious as to what made me post this thread, over on TRS, someone made a thread about adding Tractor implement lamps and installing bright blue off road lights behind the grille just to "Blind other drivers" they posted "is this ok, what do you all think?" so, I posted what I thought and got this for a reply: "your stupid, Machine, nobody asked you to post in here, (then he said some incoherant jibberish) and told me to get bent.
If I offened anyone who asks for an opinion and i give an unfavorable one, I apologize, but remember,Opinions are like *******s and everyone has one!

What an ass!!

J/K

I believe in calling it like I see it.

But sometimes things are better left unsaid. Just because it's true, doesnt mean "they" really want to hear it.

Well if someone asks for an opinion, they ask for it. Just like Lambo doors dude on here, he didnt like an opinion and opened his mouth with choice words. Whatever someone wants to do to their truck is something THEY want, if they ask for opinions, then they ask for it. Just the way I see it. Sometimes if your opinion has a negative sense to it, dont bother writing your in. Also for us to make a good determination of your question, post your actual reply to this guy and what you said. If its demeaning than yeah you may have deserved it

I can understand how the noobies can post, so i got ya there. But you have to remember that we were noobs too. have you ever went back and looked at some of your original threads from the first forums you were on? I know I have and Im like "What a stupid noob I was". So to an extent you have to take it easy on the new people.

Remember, for the most part we know how to take you and that you don't sugarcoat things, but to a new person, you can look like an *******. Now to those that have been on forums, if they don't know how to take you, that's their problems. Just take it wasy on the new people to the site, we dont wanna drive them away. Most are new to the Ranger world and really dont know things like we do, that's why they are here. They were most likely googling their problem, found our site and posted to it. And how do we treat them "Use the Search feature you DA" and stuff like that. I know I know, ill be the first to admit that it frustrates me too when a noob doesnt use the search feature and it literally takes two seconds to find the answer they were looking for, but most are new to forums.

I know on other forums where people can be *******s and even a few peeps up here can be. But that is when it seems like EVERY post they have is an *******, know it all answer. Thats when you are considered an ******* because at that point you have nothing useful to say but criticize. Dont be like that. Im not saying you are, that is just an example.

im not saying to sugarcoat things, but also dont be a smartass on every post wither

thanks for the replies. Clinton, as for the TRS thread, my comment was: "Tractor implement lights are not fog lights and installing lights just to blind other people is stupid"

its funny how certain members on these sites get all butthurt when they post up something stupid like "why did i get a ticket for yellow headlights" or "hey look at my truck and my whale" and then get negative responses.

This is a forum. Where you open yourself up to ALL OPINIONS. Thats what this place is for. If you cant hang GTFO.

just my .02

btw... you're alright by me terry.

There is a saying that may apply here concerning asking for opinions. "Be careful of what you wish for; you may get it."

While the comcept of having lights to blind others is tempting from time to time, the idea really is stupid. He asked for the opinion, he got it.

machine090767, theres nothing wrong with giving your opinion when its asked for but there is a tactful way to do so and alot of times your constructive criticism comes across as not so constructive but instead sounding dickish whether you mean to be a dick or not. As far as digging up old threads, we encourage that in most cases because if a topic is already posted about something theres no reason to make a new thread if theres an old one you can add to or post in. I always thought it was ironic that alot of members are so quick to say "search noob" when a new member asks a question but than turn around and complain when they search, find a thread that might be old and post in it. kind of bass ackwards if you ask me. just remember people, we were all noobs at one time and someone sent us all down the right path at one time or another so please do the same for someone else. the best thing you can do if a new member posts a thread about something thats been asked alot is to KINDLY point the member in the right direction with links or whatever and tell them about the search function OR just ignore the thread completely if you feel you cant be nice about it. Im not singling you out machine090767, there are many other members that do it and ive been guilty of it too. i understand its frustrating to answer the same question over and over but this is a forum and thats just the nature of the beast.
