Freedom of speech applies to government operations, it has no bearing on private entities such as this forum. We will continue to remove offensive content and discipline those members who post it.

x2. I sometimes get a chuckle out of members posting in extremely old threads, but at the same time I appreciate the fact that they spent the time searching.

Im not singling you out machine090767, there are many other members that do it and ive been guilty of it too. i understand its frustrating to answer the same question over and over but this is a forum and thats just the nature of the beast.
x2. I'm guilty of this myself. For example, when a new user registers they automatically receive a PM from me that among other things, includes a link to my "how to post on the forum" thread. There is also a large banner uptop guiding them to that thread to learn how to post. I still receive about 15 messages a month from users asking how to post on the forum, who usually thank me after I link them to the "how to post on the forum" thread.

It can sometimes get annoying but I just need to remember that not everyone has used a forum before, and I think that is the key element. New users who have never used a forum before don't understand what a sticky is, nor are they aware of the existence or importance of stickies.

It's also a numbers game. We have a LOT of new members registering everyday so while the "annoying noobs" may stand out the most, they are definitely in the minority. The new member who does everything properly... creates a good intro, nice signature, searches etc. goes basically unnoticed.

x3 on posting in old threads... sometimes you just can't find info in a new thread & some old threads really are worth bringing back to life.
I'm sure I've resurrected an old thread from the depths from time to time

I dunno Terry I posted a stupid comment meant to joke around with you in your well justified "stop the tire size threads" thread. You proceeded to jump up and down with comments like your really are a stupid motherf****" and a question about my level of education. I have no idea why other than to figure that it was late night fourth of July. Your post was quietly deleted as was my not so very belligerent (IMO) response.

But hey your a progressive enough kind of mind to have opened a potential personal can of worms for discussion. I like that and I really respect that.

But your question implies two extremes between which is plenty of middle ground.
There is a definite line between being overbearing, being mature enough to tell it like it is, or being overly polite and someday I hope to learn it. Right now I'm sure I stumble to both sides of that line.

But that's not to say that wisecracks aren't going to happen. Thing is can we handle a fairly measured retort back at us?
If we can then it's all good.

I think, it's the internet and if you get butt-hurt over something that somebody says on the forums then you either need to get over it or get the fuck out.

Mickblock, I appologize for being so rude, I don't really recall typing what you said I did (and no, i wasn't drunk. Been alcohol free since 2003) I might have just had a bad day.
I need to remember that with age should come wisdom and patience.
I am most likely 15-20 years older than many members on FRF and I tend to forget that I too, was young once.

I live by the rule if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.....I don't have time and energy to devote to "angry" posts or "highly opinionated" posts.....

If someone asks a question, and I know the answer or have an opinion of the topic...I display it in a non personal as I can way as to not offend...if someone disagrees with it and gets imature about it...that's their issue...I don't waste time with that kind of stuff on the internet....I'd rather have fun, and enjoy life....but that's just my opinion LOL

I've been told I'm just an *******, so I live with it.
Now, what size tires will fit on my truck?

I'm a noob here, but I've been on forums for a long time. Long enough that very little bothers me anymore. People who can't take a response they don't like probably shouldn't be on forums at all–or at the very least, stop asking for opinions on things that are up to their preference.

I generally don't ask for opinions on things like mods…I know what I like, it's My Truck, I don't need opinions of others to justify what I choose to do.

Product opinions/experiences are a different thing though…that's researching before buying to get the best result! Informed responses are always welcome there, even ones that equate to a 1-star review.

I couldn't think of it before, but this reminds me of the old Dennis Leary song "A-SS-HO-LE" ... funny stuff... somebody needs to find that video & post it here
