Default are you an habitual speeder?

I'm talking about on the freeway, expressway. Do you automatically drive 10-20 or higher MPH over the limit for no real reason?
and, if you do, do you get pissed when the cops pull you over?
I ask this, because my friend has a habbit of going 80 in a 70, 65 in a 55, 75 in a 65 (etc) then, when he gets pulled over he starts to get pissed saying "fucking cops have nothing better to do!"
and acts like he's done nothing wrong at all.

Default Re: are you an habitual speeder?

yes....i speed

but only 5 to 10 over
maybe faster if i'm passing someone

and sometimes i'm going that fast to keep up with traffic
but i speed within reason....i don't push the limits of my truck everytime i hit the highway

i've only been pulled over twice....once when i wasn't paying attention and was speeding...i'll admit it

the other time was when i slingshot myself past an old woman who cut me off and i almost hit her......sure as hell a cop was at the next intersection and lasered me as i passed her
i tried to tell him what happened but he was kind of a dick and said he didn't want to argue and that i was getting a ticket no matter what i said.....

i speed alot, and have never been pulled over for it oddly.

i have been pulled over though because my "illegally modified" truck caught the officers eye. still trying to figure out how drop coils and a flip kit that are DOT compliant stamped is illegal though..

only time I ever get mad about cops pulling me over is when they search my car...which happened almost 95% of the time before I got arrested and only once after ive been arrested...after being arrested I dont really get mad at them for it...because they actually have probable cause when they run my license.

i dont speed much on the highway unless im passing someone thats going slow in the left lane (one of my biggest pet peaves) but i do speed nearly everywhere else except for school zones and subdivisions. back country roads im usually 10 or 15 over. and no, i dont get pissed if i get busted because im the one in the wrong and i know it.

TN state boys don't get excited til you hit 80, so I set my cruise at 78 and motor on

And there are a few nice spots to blow the cobwebs out because you can't see the other side do to trees..........blew the webs outta my DD the other day an didn't find any governor, was doin 120 and was still pullin............I know Fords will shutdown around 90-95.

Oh , what a subject !

In the Mass area , we have route 495 ( I call it the dysfunctional highway ) . No rules apply as people run in and out of lanes goin from 30MPH in the left lane , and then 80 , to truckers and cars in the middle lane trying to run you off the road , and passing on the right lane as well - No speed limits apply ) . I don't get mad anymore as I just accept it as a part of driving . State Police really don't enforce any laws either unless they see you physically acting like a nut . I stay in the middle lane ( to the right lane if possible ) and cruise at the speed limit . It gets a lot of folks upset .....

A multi-lane limited access divided highway, I generally do 10 over and never 80+. If it's a 55, I'll do 65. If it's a 65, I'll do 75. This is what most reasonable people do and the police are accepting of it because it is reasonable. If you start pushing 15 over, you're asking for it.

I speed, I know I'm breaking the law and I accept the risk of getting pulled over.

I've been pulled over 9 times and talked my way out of all those tickets. I've been very lucky

Generally do not speed , because most people here do speed, I try and set the example the speed limit is posted it should be followed if someone behind me does not like it screw em, they are not going to pay my fine if I get caught. So I don't have to worry about a speeding ticket.
If the idiots who drive so fast want to endanger their life fine and if they need to go faster move to germany and drive the autoban... no speed limit there, at least none 10 years ago

Sometimes I speed, not to often anymore cause where we moved the police do a good job of keeping order (its a small town). So I try to stay inside the laws. BUT, if I'm out on the open interstate then that's a different story. Last time I was on the interstate it was with the caravan of rangers going to the seattle wa. meet and there were a few spots we hit 75 in a 60. But most of the time 5 over to keep up with traffic and normaily the police don't waist there time on the small stuff. But I don't get mad at the officer I get mad at my self for not seeing him and getting caught.
