It's like this, my theory is if your driving a 100 mile trip act like it's the Daytona 500. Put the pedal down and race to the checkered flag.
Just kiddin, I go a little over. Then crazy enough the only speeding ticket I have had, I was doing 5 over! The crazy bastard told me I was doing 55 in a 35. I checked my speed before I hit the speed zone and was doin 40! No more and no less. Loxely, Alabama's finest can kiss the fattest part of my

I keep up with the flow of traffic. (I speed) But you'll never see me weaving in and out of lanes rocketing past people.

I will actually do the 45 mph speed restriction in a construction zone. It's a good policy.

Have you ever done the speed limit on side roads or highways? Drives people nuts! They think your crazy. I think the same thing when I'm behind someone observing the speed limit. Can't help it.

I have been on both sides of this.
I gave and I receved.
But the last ticket was'nt for speeding, it was for being in the wrong lane in a big truck.

I stick the speed limit if it is a 65 or 70 mph high way since the general fuel consumption curve starts to drop at around 60 mph. On a road equal to or less than 55 mph, I generally go 5 mph over unless the weather is crappy, then it's the speed limit or less depending on conditions.

Yes I speed.. But my 'speeding' is only keeping up with traffic. Like today, I was doing 75 in a 55 in the slow lane and still was getting passed like i was standing still.

This thread reminds me of a situation my girlfriend was in last winter. She was driving on a highway (the day after we got the 2ft of snow here) doing 65 in a 55 (the roads we not that great of condition- still random patches of hardpacked snow on the highway) and she hit one, lost control and tapped a jersey wall (i mean tapped. 0 damage to her expy). Anyways, when she got home, i inspected the car, found no damage and proceeded to tell her 'well, you shouldnt have been speeding'..

pretty much to make a long story short she got pissy and to this day, she still belives she wasnt speeding.

i might run 5 mph over if its a back road with not much traffic. 10 if its a straight road during the daytime. 20-35 over in the park, lol. dumba$$ NPS lowered the speed limit from 45 MPH down to 25 MPH on 209 years back. of course i slow down if i see a park ranger, lol. and if its a very dark night or its raining / snowing i'll usually run about 5 under the limit. no sense in wrecking the newest, lowest milege vehicle i've ever sat in

On the interstate i usually go 80 in a 75. Living in a college town there are a lot of walkers and bikers so I always go the speed limit in town.
I've been pulled over two times and gotten out of both because the officers knew my grandpa. It was nice!

I ask this, because my friend has a habbit of going 80 in a 70, 65 in a 55, 75 in a 65 (etc) then, when he gets pulled over he starts to get pissed saying "fucking cops have nothing better to do!"
and acts like he's done nothing wrong at all.

The FHP and the local Sheriff's Offices around central Fl won't do a traffic stop on an interstate unless you do 11 mph or more over the limit.
Residential streets they'll let you get away with 5 mph or less over the limit and 35-50 mph roads 8 mph or less.
I run at 5 mph over the limit everywhere, except school zones because transplanted New Yorkers from the ghettos tend to road rage and that is never a good thing since we are prohibited from carrying a handgun in our work trucks.

I speed everywhere I go... 10-20 over on average.

Which is possibly why I've been pulled over 23 times, yet only had one ticket for 20 over. Well he was a gent about it and made it 19 over so I could keep my vehicle and not deal with a lot of BS.

Been pulled over for illegal lighting, no turn signal, no seat belt, illegal tint, no mud flaps, bumper too high... etc.

I've pulled 2 cops over also... One for tailgating me "Oh, I was trying to see your license plate" and one for being on the cellphone while driving "We are allowed too..."

As a kid, I sped a lot. At 21 years old, I found other things to do with my time and more responsibilities, which has slowed me down considerably. These days, I'm still speeding at times, but when I do it's only about 5-10 over - there is too much traffic on my commute to and from work, and speeding to get to a wall of brake lights 1/2 mile ahead doesn't make much sense.

In my ranger, no I don't speed because it doesn't like high speeds anymore.

In my other vehicles yes, I set the cruise for 5 mph over the limit unless I'm on the interstate where the limit is already 80.

I actually believed your post until your claim of pulling two cops over. Officers would never actually respond to your 2 questions......they are in charge, not you. Pulled over 23 times and only one ticket, I would say you are very fortunate!
