Now this isn't to promote anything. But how many 'Heads of State' would ever do this. Lax security allowed a protester to get right up to J.C. who did not hurt the protester, but still dealt with him quickly. It happened too quickly for the PM to know what the guy was up to. Think about how most politicians would have handled this. I thought it was awesome..an ironic great moment of J.C.'s career.

I don't understand how this implies any expression of character good or bad.

Not really to say it was good or bad...just how many politicians would have done that?...most would run calling security. Many here would find fault with Jean Chretian in time..but for me this was one memorable moment of him,..where I knew he was in a class of his own.
Post being PM he had quadruple heart bypass surgery..and not surprisingly was out, about and talking in 6 days or so,..looking like it never happened.
We see all the time politricks by many in a rather unseemly way. This is terrible for any Democracy since the people who bother to vote dwindle. If nothing else Jean was a politician who could handle himself in a way few can..not to say that in itself was good, but still more admirable than most.
To sgtsandman....blocked by copyright laws..I've had that happen here often over things where that makes no sense.
