Default Airbox Mod

STL, did you ever have any problem with water (rain, carwash) getting into the filter box after this mod? If the answer is no then I'm doing this tommorrow!!
Also, does this have any adverse affect on the air/fuel mix.

Thx

I have one on my 02 Ranger, K&N CAI 77-2529KP,
I have two others that have been on other trucks I have owned, one of them will go onto my B2 when I get it going.
I have not had any problems with any of my K&N's. They like most other filters, don't swim very well, but all have worked up to expectations.

How many of you guys with any brand of a cold air intake, K&N or other brand, have actually noticed substantial fuel mileage increase? I put on my old Subaru, and it did nothing for performance or economy. It only made a lot more noise.

I did the snorkel removal, 2 weeks ago... it does sound a little "thoratier"... don't know abouth mpg... can't afford a full tank of gas untill next month....so I'll let you know... the mod was easy actually took 'bout 10 mins.... are there any more "mods" as easy as this I should know off ???... I'm puttin a hose this weekend that will hopefully get more cold air closer to the filter... i'll post pics...

I bought a $25 Spectre cone air filter and a $10 MAF adaptor plate. Throttle response has improved, now has a deep, deep growl, and I can't tell if there is a MPG gain or not. Havent removed the snorkel yet, but I hope the gain will increase even more. Plus the chrome air filter looks sick as hell

If you oil it properly then you won't have problems. The intake on my 93 RX7 used 2 K&N filters and even with 14psi of boost the turbos couldn't suck the oil out of the filters.

Just remember guys, the whole reason for the oil on these filters is to trap the dust. If you don't oil and clean them when you are supposed to, they won't filter as effectively.
