I guess i was
lucky.

I have chase, they only ask 16 digit of your card and your last four of your social, and they will answer all your questions, compared to citibank, they ask you a verbal password according to my friend

When i call PNC in order for them to tell me ANYTHING i have to tell them the Branch the account was opened at and either my last transaction for where and how much or my last deposit amount

That's an open invite for criminals, all banks are supposed to have privacy and anti-fraud policies. To change all the details they have with a flagged account, there should have been need of photo id(s) before any change could be authorized.

Sorry to hear about the sh!tty deal man,

First thing I'd do is open an account with a different bank, the morons at your bank seem to want to help the criminal more than they want to help you.

File a complaint with the BBB, sounds like your bank has violated the Federal Privacy Act requiring a photo ID to open an account... let alone re-opening an account with fraudulent activity reported on it.

Fuck chase...My niece worked for them and a few of my friends have banked with them. They treat your money like it is theres, until it gets stolen. Then they act like they cant do shit and its all your fault.

Should've asked them when that password was put in place since you never asked for one.

I don't get why you'd complain about ppl stealing your money using a phone line, then you complain about the bank refusing to do unsecured transactions over the phone. If anything, i'd say they are following the procedures by not repeating the same mistake.

Go to your branch, ask for the manager (or assistant), and explain your situation. Don't forget to mention the un-authorized override code on the flagged account.

Simple.

Great response. Like he was supposed to know all of this was going to happen when he decided to bank with chase. Ignorant prick

To the OP, this happened to me last week, believe it or not. I bank with Wells Fargo. I recently got paid the day before, tried to go buy Taco Bell, and my card was declined. I went home and found out there were four charges in California for the exact same amount.

I called Wells and explained the situation. They immediately started an investigation. They found out that someone wrote down my card info when I was in Cali a month or two before this. They made a fake card, and purchased four books of mailing stamps. The Wells fargo employee informed me that a lot of people do this, then turn the stamps back in for cash in hand.

Long story short, they had to make sure the fraudulent activity wasn't caused by ignorance on my part. After 3-4 days they fully refunded me every penny, and sent me a new debit card. Hoping this happens with you too. Good luck

wells fargo is great when it comes to fraudulent activity. I had someone charge $30 to my account. I checked all my past 3 days purchses, etc... anyway, told wells fargo about it, they did an investigation and within a week $30 was added to my account. Now $30 may not seem like much, but if they (wells fargo) are willing to do all that investigating for only $30, Chase better start investigating your case and credit your account.

Well, now anyone else that banks with chase, can re-evaluate their decision. BTW your post had about as much relevance as mine, seeing as how you were using wells fargo and he was using chase. Plus yours was handled quickly and professionally, where his has been a big clusterfuck... Before you start with the name calling, take a look at the man in the mirror.

Bank of America will call me immediately if any suspicious activity is noticed or if any large spending is being done.

Someone got my card info and tried to buy $2,200 at some paint store or something but they called and asked about it, told them it wasn't me and they cancelled to account and sent me a new card.

Then when I bought my house last year I was buying a lot of stuff at lowes and such and after I tried to buy about $1,500 worth of stuff I had to get on the phone and answer a 3 questions about stuff from my past so they knew it was me.

Summary, pleased with bank of america, they also have partner branches around the world so I don't have to do money exchanges. Just go right up to the partner branch atm and use it like normal
