Default what do you think of the new expo?

Im wondering what you guys think of it, i think Ford did the right decision by using a unibody fwd/awd, since really nobody uses new ford explorers for extreme off-roading, i haven't even seen a newer explorer on a dirt road! So it will fit buyers needs better, besides, the Jeep Cherokee is a unibody.

Remember the Jeep XJ or Cherokee....Unibody, Grand Cherokee...Unibody...I hate to say it, but even though they are unibody they are strong off roaders. Unibody is the way of the "future" and we are stuck with it. Note to Detroit...build a truck based SUV again. A real one with high clearance, solid axles, no frills, towing capacity for 9 fat guys and a trailer

You have to remember the average SUV buyer. Most of us here that own 4wds, and some of the 2wds, use the off road capability of their trucks off road, or at least in some capability that is above and beyond your handy paved road. The average Explorer owner is a soccer mom....

There is talk at GM of building another small pickup because the market is there....just throwing that out there to FORD!! So maybe they will give us a diesel crew cab with a manual tranny.....

well there is always the expedition, the f-150 SUV.
And the new expo is based off the flex, but they lifted it, gave it offroad electronic goodies and some subframe connectors to stiffen it up, its capable of silver lake dune driving so it must not be all bad to be honest, personaly i'll take the new Expo over the fake american made Mercedes m-class Cherokee POS with a fake hemi or a crappy Chrysler v6. but thats just me.

meh, soon the ranger will be replaced by an Australian ranger, turbo 4 cyl will be in it, and probably the 3.5 v6 and maybe a 3.7 v6, Alan Mulally has something that might be good, just look what happened when he became CEO, better Taurus, Fusion, Flex, Edge, 5.0 V8, Boss 302, so by the looks of things, the Ranger is next, and if it really is good, i'll look into a trade in.

I like the new model, but it doesn't look like the truck it used to be famous for. Now it's just "one of those".

I bought a ranger because of the way it looked. Changes usually mean more money (usually).

For example, there's a big promotion on the ranger wildtrack in france, for 42.5k US (+taxes+fees). I've checked on ford's us site, you could get a well equipped sport track for that kind of money.

but anyone that actually uses there cherokees off road know that they need to stiffen the unibody especially when they start adding lifts and such. they are pretty flexy. i dont care if its the future, i dont like it and thats why i own trucks. the explorer is just another car now.
