I started mowing lawns and doing spring and fall cleanups when I was 12 in preparation to save money for my ranger. I also got a summer job on top of that working at a local farm. My parents made a deal with me that they would meet whatever I could shell out of my own money and over time I'd have to pay them back. I didnt want to spend more than 4,500 because the rest I've put away for college, and I found the ranger I have now. I also pay for my own gas, insurance, and any money needed to fix it. It feels good to know that you've worked hard for something.

My parents bought my first vehicle....was 1993 and they bought me a 1983 Mercury Lynx.....I was sooo happy, they bought it for 50 bucks :-) I put about 1500 into it (motor trans) to run it for a year....then that allowed me to save up for what I consider my "first" car....my 68 Mustang.....ahhhhh now if I could only KEEP cars instead of changing my mind on what I like I'd be a happy camper..seems like ever since then I trade/sell what I have and buy something else about every couple years LOL

Paid $300.00 for a non-running 1989 Delta 88 and after putting in a junkyard trans, rear-end and having a shop make an exhaust system, got it running.

I bought an '80 Mercury Lynx with Christmas and birthday money back in 1987. What a POS that car was. I only had it about a year. My next car was an 1982 Toyota Celica with a car loan. I had that thing for 10 years until road salt claimed it.

worked my ass off like crazy to buy my s10 and the ranger. i pay insurance, gas, and tags. i worked 3(well 4 kinda) jobs over the summer. worked at a grocery store 8:00a.m.-2:00p.m./2:00p.m.-8:00p.m. on Mondays, and Tuesdays; and 8:00a.m.-2:00p.m. on Saturdays, and 10:00a.m.-2:00 pm Sundays. then i worked at a fabrication shop once a week (4:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m). then i worked at the car shop my dad works at on Saturday's and Sundays when i got off work at the grocery store. i was doing mostly oil changes and tune ups then i mowed about 8 yards (they were all decent sized yards). i worked my ass off this summer to be broke. lol. but hey, it feels pretty good to know i bought EVERY thing myself (food, clothes, gas, everything). now that school has started, im only working at the grocery store and mowing yards and im still broke. lol
