How'd you afford your first car?
How'd you get your first car, whether it's your ranger you have now or not. Did you pay for it or have whoever chip in? Or did somebody cosign?
I had to pay full, no credit. Had a little help from the family.

Re: How'd you afford your first car?
When I moved to school my dad said I couldn't take the car he bought with me so I went and bought my first ranger ('99). It was used so since he matched my down payment (aka high school grad money) that brought the loan amount down to a stupid low number. I worked all through college to pay for the rest of it then sold her for the '08.

Re: How'd you afford your first car?
Mine was a 93 ex cab ranger 3.0....I was kinda forced to buy it from my uncle for more than it bluebooked because my other uncle was in charge of the money from my mom's death until I turned 21...I lived 25+ miles from my school and every car I would go look at, my uncle would say he wouldnt give me my own money to buy it...After 4 months of looking at vehicles, 10+ a week...My uncle said he would sell me his and my other uncle said he would let me use my money to buy it...So thats what I got.
I consider it buying with my own money...Even though I didnt work at a job for it...You had a mom, I got 60k that 51k was missing by the time I was able to take control of it(which is why I dont talk to my family anymore), so basically I got a ranger and 5k.

Its all good dude. Learned a lot of life lessons early. If yall have young kids, make sure whoever takes custody of them (if you die) doesnt have free reign over the money you leave them.

Re: How'd you afford your first car?
I'll admit that my parents were nice enough to hand me the keys to my beast. Kind of makes me feel like a douche when I look back at how I've treated it, so there comes in the part where I wish I could have bought my own b/c I'm sure I would have treated it better. Although that was really out of the question since I was a three season athelete so no time for a job

Re: How'd you afford your first car?
First car, my Ranger. My dad ended up buying it for me. Still shocked to this day, not only cause he is usually hardass about that kind of stuff, but because he is a diehard GM guy. He told me the reason he bought it for me was, because where he is working most of the time, I would need a vehicle and there was no way i could afford it. Needless to say, i have a lot more respect for him, and money now that i have a vehicle. Pretty good life lesson.

My parents loaned me the money and I made payments to them. It was an 84' t-bird with a 3.8l v6.

Re: How'd you afford your first car?
Mine was a 83 dodge ram 50 with a buick v-8 in it. It had 2 glass packs on it and sat so low to the ground the bumps on the mountain roads here ripped the pipes off atleast once a week. I saved my own money for it from working part time. It cost 1,000.00 and I was 16 at the time

Re: How'd you afford your first car?
Mine was a fully loaded 88' Toyota Camry LX V6. Loved the car. Only thing really wrong with it was that it needed a new paint job. My dad apid for half ($800) and I paid the other half. Car had 203k miles on it when I sold her and still going strong!
I then bought my 94' Ranger in which my grandmother cosigned for me. Payed that off and sold it, then bought my current 06'
