Except all of the rangers (and other cars for that matter) near me are all beat to hell and/or need some heavy work done to them. You said you spent 5500, but i only have 1000. With 5500 i could easily find something. I just want a ranger that looks decent and has a 4cyl 2wd so i can save up for another loaded 4x4

You could always make friends with your local ford dealership, especially the used car dept.
Sometimes the dealership gets vehicles they offer a rediculous amount (anywhere between 500$-2k) in exchange for a purchase of a new one. Because that car/truck is too old or damaged to fix for profit, they re-sell it to used car companies for a rediculous price, that will then turn around, mask the problems and re-sell the vehicle with a profit.
My brother got some great deals that way.

well atleast with a beater, traffic will avoid getting near you, and getting dents and fender benders really wont bother you, plus nearly anything you do to a beater will be an improvement, like spray bombing it, normaly not a good thing, but its a good thing on beater becuase it will hide the rust

$1000 aint gonna get you anything nice unless you find a (RARE) kick ass deal...If you're in a hurry and looking hard, you probably wont find a deal...but a week after you give up hope, the good deal will pop up. Patience is a virtue.

i bought my 91 with a perfectly straight body, needs paint, runs amazing with 128k, needed trans rebuild.
Unless you can do body work id suggest going more for running shitty and looking good lol.

You'd be surprised how desperate some dealers get when it comes to unload cars they deem too old.
They'll gladly almost give you the car if it means you take it as-is.
