Default Suggestions for LED lighting?

I have a project coming up in the near future that I am going to want to wire some strip LED lights into a wall socket, I'm looking for suggestions for lights, and also some sites where I can get info on it..

of course, you already know that LEDs are current-based devices operating in low-voltage DC circuits, and "wall sockets" are high-current AC voltage sources, right?

yes, this I know....I guess my main question is can this be modified to work?

And for those wondering, the project is going to be a beer pong table.

modified, no.

but, you can use a transformer to step the voltage down to a manageable level, then a bridge rectifier to convert it to DC, then a bank of current-limiting resistors to keep the LEDs from burning out (unless they're already built into the "LED strip" you have).
