Thinking about buying this for me
http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/1848790762.html
I am looking for some better gas mileage and love luxury cars. I understand most of you don't like the whole salvage title thing but my truck is and i don't plan on selling either one so i am not too worried about that. I have already priced out the parts and it will cost me around 1200 for everything
Hood-200
Both Fenders -80
front bumper with reinforcement -80
Headligthts-200
Airbags-300
grille-15
side markers-23
Timing Belt pulling-80
Paint -400
The only thing i was worried about is the mileage i am unsure of how well these German engines were built. I would love to have this car and kbb says around 2200 in fair condition
I would have about that into it when i am done. And some may say just buy one for around that [rice but i don't have that kind of money so with this one i can but the parts as i get the money.
Oh and BTW this is the same place i bought my truck.
I would like to hear some opinions
thanks

Re: Thinking about buying this for me
My ranger is a rebuild and there arent problems...BUT...a friend of mine rebuilds wrecked VW's and sells them. Everyone he sold cam back and he just kept dumping money into it to help out the people who bought it. My opinion is you can do better than VW for the money you're paying

Re: Thinking about buying this for me
Ultimately the decision is yours, but bring a mechanic to look at it too. Good luck man

You do realize that your rough estimate of parts for your VW was like $2350 after price of car and parts...Not to mention, all those hidden things like CV joints, possibly steering pump, alignment....If you dont want to drive a 15yr old toyota thats fine....But for what youre about to spend, they are hands down a better value....Not to mention no money is going in toyota's pocket from the sale, and they are from when toyota made some of the most dependable cars on the road.
The infiniti is not toyota, and it runs, and it is 2000 instead of $2350+work and price subject to change depending on what else is fucked up. Leather interior...not a bad looking lil car.

Re: Thinking about buying this for me
I don't have 2000+ to spend right now. That is why i would like something to work on because i can buy things as i get the money

Re: Thinking about buying this for me
Well, then Id save up until I did have 2000+....But youre going to do what you want...Just think buying a wrecked car is a bad idea if there is any possible chance your situation will change before you can fix it and you have to get rid of it before its finished or have to move or something.

Re: Thinking about buying this for me
I have a hard time saving money lol, I bought my truck wrecked and had a good out come. The way things are going it doesn't seem anything will change. But i will only buy one that runs and drives fine and the old parts would be off the first day i got it so i can drive it if need be

Re: Thinking about buying this for me
well, if it runs and drives, then thats a different story...But they way they said it was burried in the factory and stuff, figured it didnt do much more than roll onto a trailer.
