Not a big deal, I'm the lead tech at the dealership we bought it from.

Yup. Got 41mpg coming back home. Got around 35 putzing around city streets.

Put 100 miles on it so far, fuel gauge hasn't even moved.

So this is FWD 1.6 turbo diesel, the Escape was 2.0 turbo AWD. Off the line to about 50mph, I'd say they are about the same, the turbo diesel has gobs of torque. 240ish, but only 136 or so hp. The 2.0 in the escape was around 250hp/240 torque. The equinox may only be slightly slower, but it still will pin you back in the seat. When it comes to passing on the highway, yeah, the escape was better for sure. But the equinox is manageable.

Fuel economy though is a HUUUUGE difference. Best we ever got out of the escape all highway was 27 or 28. Around town, we are talking 16. My wife's mixed commute we'd typically get 18-21 out of it.

The 2 days we've had the Equinox so far, well, 1 day I guess, we are seeing about 37 combined. So essentially, we doubled the fuel economy. She got remote start, heated seats, better infotainment system, navigation, new tires (I was going to have to put tires on the Escape here very soon), and a car payment that was about $100 lower.

I think it was a smart decision. Don't get me wrong, we loved the Escape, one of the best car's we've ever owned, but it got pretty awful gas mileage unless you were doing 70 all the time.

Yeah, I'm on medical leave right now, probably won't go back to work till early next year. I broke my hand at work. Puttting an alternator in.....an escape. 03 rust bucket piece of shit with the v6. Last bolt on the bracket was stuck like none other, which was surprising since I think every drop of oil from the engine had soaked it. When it broke free I ended up punching the exhaust manifold. Got my cast off Monday and started PT Tuesday, which is pretty terrible.

I've done them before, just thought it was odd someone towed that to a chevy dealer for us to fix. But I guess we are the closest place, I work in the middle of absolute no where. The dealership has a gravel parking lot, and is surrounded by nothing but cornfields.

I can't complain though, they gave me a nice raise over the place I was at before, and got me away from fluctuating pay and bi-polar boss. Also, don't have to sit in traffic anymore driving to work, woo hoo.

sounds like where I work. We are in between a cornfield and a dairy farm(smells wonderful when the farmer stirs the pit). I don't have to sit in traffic either. 12 mile drive all 2 lane highway 40-55 mph speed limit(most people do 55-60 myself included) and only 5 red lights

I really wish more people would jump on the diesel band wagon. The Equinox is about the only vehicle worth a shit you can get with a diesel that isn't a 3/4 ton truck. Fuck that VW shit. MB and BMW have some, but they aren't exactly budget friendly.

If I could find a Chevy Cruze hatch with the diesel and a 6 speed manual (rare), I'd consider getting rid of my Focus for one, they get something like 54mpg highway.

But I only have 3 payments left on my focus, and it gets 40mpg highway, so there's that.....

IF ford makes the 3.0 diesel available in more than just the Lariat and above trim... I might go diesel in my next truck if they pan out to be somewhat reliable. Still not sure about the whole Land Rover diesel thing though with 2 TIMING BELTS! . Now if the bronco is avail with a diesel and stick I will be all over that

Are you still leasing? Or did you ever actually buy one.

I still lease. Makes the most sense to me. I like having a vehicle under warranty. plus with the red carpet lease incentives and my employee discount its hard not to

Ah. Yeah, that's another reason why we got rid of the Escape. Warranty was up, my dealer offers a Lifetime warranty on all new vehicles sold, and since I'm not going anywhere for a while, works out for me. If something were to happen, it will get fixed for free, and I'll get paid to fix it.
