One of my HS classmates bought the house a few doors down from me, boy has he changed over the years! Like about, +350 lbs, he's a rolly polly fatty that stuffs himself into an Escape. Yet, when he and his (insanely fat) wife got divorced, he replaced her with another......fatty. So yeah, fatties find one another just like anyone else.
*Wanna not be fat? Don't let the Schwanns truck dump (fat mobile) food off at your house once a week.

Ya, before the boom a two bedroom house that needs some work would go for about 10-20k depending on lot size. During the boom those same houses were selling for 150-200k. Now they've gone about halfway down. I'm seeing them around 80k now.
Still can't get a 3 bedroom for under 100k tho. And rent is still nuts. I'm renting a 3 bedroom modular on a half city lot for $900/month.

You know how it played out when this exact same thing happened during the last big oil boom, right? Cheyenne, WY was an outstanding example.

Yep. I'm already seeing it in surrounding towns. Glendive put up like 6 new hotels before it busted. Now every one is sitting empty. Lol

Gawd, I bought the Ranger over on the east coast and drove it cross country in the winter of 04. Coming home, I pulled onto that main N/S business strip through Williston, ND around 6P looking for a room......wound up taking one in a hoe-tel that was far from first choice and was very happy to get it. I can only imagine what they got for rooms by-the-month at that place in the heyday that followed........

Re: FRF Watercooler / BS Thread 2016 (V2.0)
I think you're right but some type of industrial business that supports the oil industry; I can't find it on google street view. Place wasn't horrible, it was clean but older, rough in places and could have used a fair amount of maintenance detailing. That right there, plus the location and land value$ cries wrecking ball.
I feel sorry for people who live in places like that before boom cycles. Two years after I took a job in the west side of this state, Money magazine rated it the #1 town in America, and Forbes, US News and others said about the same. The way that played out was, housing costs went through the roof, rush hour traffic very conspicuously became a living hell in wayyyy under a year, and all these people with maybe a shirt on their back came there looking for the good life and all these jobs......that didn't even exist.

After ten years, I'm over it. There comes a time when you realize that it's never going to happen, it's going to cost way more than you care to spend, and it's just too far gone.
The good news is that it went to a guy who collects those trucks. But I was honestly ready to send it to the scrapyard if he didn't get it.

This. I'm tired of working on shit. Once the Ranger blows up, I'm getting something new with a warranty.

Picked out new carpeting, tile flooring, bathroom shower, toilet, vanity, mirror, lights, new color paint, new kitchen sinks, faucets for bathroom and kitchen. It will all be professionally installed. The Best part? Being able to pay cash for it all and not make a noticeable dent in my financial portfolio.
Yeah, some people here are A**Holes, I'm just an A$$$$Hole.

You can get lifetime powertrain warranties on jeeps. Even used ones, if the mileage is low enough.
