If I was a cop, every black person who I arrested that asked why they were getting arrested I'd say "Cause you're black" The only reason I'd say that is because they're never wrong and never do anything bad. It's always the white man bringing the black man down. We will always be the ones who are wrong. Get a god damn life.

I haven't read all the replies so I'm just adding my opinion on the issue, not responding to any individuals post.

The girls involved in the incident were 100% wrong for j-walking, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and overall acting like the typical stereotype. The officer was engaged in a physical altercation by the offending parties. They started it and now they're playing the victim. The fact that this all started over j-walking makes it all seem rediculous. But the bottom line is it was the girls who escalated it into a physical altercation, not the police officer. They turned a simple matter into a violent incident.

If they weren't black, this wouldn't be an issue. We all know it, and their actions are purporting the stereotype. Unfortunately, the NAACP will now swoop in and blame the police for the violent actions of the parties involved. They don't want racism, yet they force it to continue.

The title of this thread and the general lean of the news media is absolutely wrong. "Police officer punches teen girl" is not what happened.

agree with matt.

the newspaper article should be titled "Seattle Police Officer Observed Working Despite Crowd Of Young, Self-Righteous Onlookers Constantly Berating Him"

i wouldn't recommend it.

do either of you understand how a taser works?

one officer would have one taser. one taser can be used on one subject at a time, and must be reloaded before being used on a second subject. once that is done, the taser is no longer effective against the first subject. fists can be used multiple times on multiple subjects without the need to pause and reload them.

this is, unfortunately, how it works in Seattle. Had they been in California (near Hollywood), then all bets are off -- tasers can be fired multiple times and used on multiple targets simultaneously, six shot revolvers can be fired up to a dozen times without reloading, and automatic weapons will continuously fire without fail for extremely prolonged periods of time. semi-automatic weapons will also function without needing to reload, but the slide must be manually cycled ("racked") first, immediately prior to starting the hail of bullets. another plus in Hollywood is that anything shot with a bullet will explode and/or be thrown back or into the air several feet in a very theatrical fashion. once you've finished marvelling at that display, you can squeal your tires on a dirt road while making your hasty getaway. unfortunately, for the rest of us, those Hollywood effects don't work outside of the movie lots -- we are all held, steadfastly, to obey the laws of physics.

upon initially reading this i thought "this guy has no idea what he's talking about." then i read the rest of the post and realized it was making fun of "most peoples" knowledge of weapons.lol

tasers are still useable after they fire the initial set of prongs

yes, Alan, they are... as a contact taser. as such, the projectile darts in subject #1 would no longer be attached to the taser, so subject #1 is no longer subdued. further, subject #2 can only be affected by direct contact with the taser.

I guarantee that after both of those girls got tazed they wouldn't be hopping back up trying to fight.

yeah, okay, whatever. let's just pretend you're right, and that the officer you see portrayed in that video demonstrating his mastery of defensive tactic skills would be able to also effectively tase two combatitive subjects with a single taser and also not manage to incapacitate himself in the process (you do realize that you don't want to be touching the subject you're tasing, right?)

you sound very much like someone who has gained their knowledge of police procedures and equipment by watching television and movies. you might consider spending a shift or two riding along with the Winchester PD or a local deputy sheriff and you might get a better idea of how these things work in real life.

why? you wont receive any sort of shock unless you touch them right in between the 2 darts. thats why when officers are tazed during training they are held up by 2 other guys

as you conveniently forgot to quote the earlier part of the conversation, your darts are (at that time) connected to subject #1 and no longer attached to your taser. you are now wrestling with subject #2 (who you can't even put cuffs on without a struggle) and wish to use the taser again. no darts this time, because you didn't call a "TIME OUT" to make the bad guys stop and wait for you to reload it, so you will be using it as a contact taser. don't be touching that subjects sweaty skin with your sweaty skin, because electricity doesn't give a crap about your badge -- it just wants to find a path to ground.

..oh, and they're not "held up by 2 other guys", there are 2 other guys standing by to catch him so that he doesn't get injured as he falls to the ground. the 2 guys don't touch him while voltage is being applied.
