Both the 5.4s I've driven have felt more powerful than my uncle's 4.7.
The 5.4 2Vs spit plugs if they're not torqued right.
The 5.4 3Vs have cam phaser issues if not maintained correctly.
The 4.7s I don't know much about. They have a timing belt I know that much.
In the end you need to drive both and figure out what you like. Any of the engines could have issues at any point.
I'd buy either of them including the Toyota (adding that since I'm called a fanboi because I like Fords).

Patriots should have went for field goals in the 4th quarter. I think this year Bill Belichick and staff got a little too cute with the play calling.

Ehhh I think I'd stick with Toyota. Just all around a better truck. Holds value, reliability, and the timing belt isn't a big issue if you change it. My dad and grandpa both have the 4.7 with over a 100k and are ridiculously reliable. The only repair money put in my grandpas since he bought it new was the timing belt. And that was just preventative maintenance.

Doubt your wife would like it because it's not carbon fiber...but, my folks own a plastic injection molding company and one of our shooting buddies invented a bump stock that doesn't permanently modify the gun.
Anyway, were the only supplier of the part, it's not on the market yet as they just got in contact with the owner of precision firearms this week at the shot show. Could probably get one cheap right out of the press if you wanted.

I would buy a tundra over a taco if I got a Toyota, prices are similar and you get more truck in a tundra

We will see. I'm just going for lightweight on hers. Which is funny because it's being built around a billet lower receiver. Been doing a lot of research tonight on building lightweight ARs. I've never been concerned about weight before. I've built them around different purposes. I have my accurate one, my rugged one, my rodent blaster, my CQB one, my take down power one, etc.

its main selling point is you just slide off the stock, slide the bump stock on and bam. Shoot like full auto. Play around, whatever. When your done, slide the bump stock off and put your original back on. No modification. Complete reversal. Does take some trying to get used to it.
Plus you'd only need one. Could put it on yours then hers.
I've never worried about weight either. But it really doesn't add any more weight than a normal stock.

The Triton's are alright if you get something newer than a 2005. They have a couple quirks as does every motor but if you do regular maintance they run good. My 5.4 had 212k on it before i spun a bearing, and i only spun it cause my oil cooler took a shit and was pushing all my oil into the radiator. I always have my oil changes done at the local oil stop and they never cared enough to tell me i had oil in the radiator . After 05 they put more threads in the heads for the spark plugs so they dont spit them out. However they have the 2 piece spark plugs that have to be changed out for 1 piece ones. They all have the notorious cam phazer knock. Not really any different than changing out the timing belts on toyota's IMO.
