Default City budget cuts cost a persons life

The city of Springfield has been struggling to put police officers and firefighters on the job. Mostly due to a pension fund shortfall they have been struggling to make up. So to make up the short fall of funds for the pension fund. They eliminated police officers and firefighters.

There is one station every day closed due to the short number of firefighters. Well last night around midnight a apartment caught fire. The fire dept. that is less than 1/4 mile away was closed and the next closest dept was 10 miles away.

A man died in the fire last night before they could get there.

Here is a view of the distance. A is the fire dept. B is the apartment.

It's polititions, they're not feeling a dang thing. It doesn't matter to them if a guy dies due to their mismanagement.

Hoping to make it much better than stock!

I think he meant firefighters.

This is typical city management. Instead of cutting their useless waste, they cut personnel like this and save their useless shit. They bank on nothing bad happening. now you watch, the politicians will spin this to make it not their fault.

They announced that the pension would be short some 2 million dollars. They tried twice to pass a sales tax hike to cover it. It was turned down each time like 90%-10%.

People have been pissed about it for so long. We already pay are share in taxes to the pension fund. The money they are short is all their share they said they were gonna put in.

At city council meetings it got down right ugly when people were allowed to comment.

Wow that sucks. Police officers and firefighters are one of the main things that should never be cut.

they'll cut that before cutting school stuff around here... Gotta have those test scores!

our students may not have any good life skills, and we may not get all the criminals off the streets, but people can do 2+2=4 on a piece of paper.

/end thread hack... I need to make my own rant thread on this... really pisses me off...

Those pensions where affected just as all the others around the country with the fall of the big banks.

Since the public wont help pay for Government shortfalls by passing short term sales tax to increase income then. Cuts have to be made to pick up the slack and cut expenses. You cant have it both ways. Frankly the voters killed this man.

No perfectly fine here.

I get pissed when they make education cuts as well. Why not cut Government salaries?

They should never cut from police, firefighters or schools.

They can not cut salaries because of UNIONS, the only thing they can do is to cut jobs, and cut services
