Default How many of you "just go for a drive?"

Plenty of us use our Rangers for commuting, hauling and pulling. The Ranger isnt often a performance vehicle and its not exactly a Porsche in terms of inspiring driving for the sake of driving.

But Ive been a car guy all my life. I enjoy the activity of driving. One of my favorite things to do to relieve stress is to get in my truck, pick a direction, and go. No destination in mind (that would be a prison), no time limit (within reason), and no job to be accomplished- a joyride. I dont need to drive fast- 55mph in the slow lane suits me fine (in the Ranger). Just listen to my tunes, relax, and drive. I especially like doing this at 2-3 in the morning; no traffic, quiet, peaceful, and lots of green lights (have to be careful of deer though). I find I can do this in any car.

So how about it? How many of you just drive for the sake of driving? Im sure people like me are the bane of environmentalists everywhere, but we all have our guilty pleasures

I do this all the time... I love to roam the back roads around northeast pa and occasionally northwestern NJ, even southern NY state. small towns, dense forests, farmlands, rivers, mountians, old cars, neat buildings and cool old antique / junk shops, there is so much to see out there if you stick to the back roads.

someday I want to jump on route 6 up in milford and just follow it across the state, possibly across the country if I feel like it. love my ranger for roaming around too, because I feel like I can take it anywhere, dirt forest service roads & trails don't scare me in this truck, and I never feel rushed when i'm driving it.

I love just going for a drive, I took my ranger on many drives, the last one I took it on was 200 miles cause I wanted to see some places I hadn't seen in ten years. Any time I drove to grandmas cabin I would head back to town and get supplies just to take a drive.

I've put 3k on the f150 in less than a month.

Mike you ever been down chatsworth road? Its neat. Cuts right threw the pines and in some spots opens up to hugeeee cranberry farms, then goes back to woods again. It takes you in the direction of atsion lake and carranza.

I think thats just part of being a Gear head.. That and someone who enjoys some diversity or spontaneous things in life from time to time.

I may feel the need to eat at Del Taco for some reason but I may drive 45 miles and drive from Riverside all the way to Laguna Niguel or Oceanside for some reason. Just to go somewhere different, maybe Im paranoid cause all the Starbucks Barristas know me by name, know all three of my drinks, and repeatedly get them perfect every time and I just want to go somewhere else... LMAO

I went for a drive last night until 2am in back roads, jumped it twice, went into a gravel pit, went on top of one of the mounds, did some donuts. Killed 1/3 of a tank and a couple of hours. Good way to try and forget what happened just previous.

I just drive, sometimes I stop at a place that looks good, such as one of the hidden lakes up here, sit on the hood, relax, and think
