Default The old lincoln mark III

So for a grad present my brother gave me his project(worked one day on it lol) it's a 1971 Lincoln mark III, 460 v8 and c6 auto, runs and drives good after I fixed a few minor things(vac leaks) but still can't get the secondary on the carb to work, it's all original besides the rims, today I finally got the windows to go up and down(motors were stuck from sitting for 10-15 yrs) mostly just needs minor patch work on the body and paint, and of course a few little things to the motor and trans, I'm planning on doing a build tread on this if you guys would like to see it, I'm not planing on restoring it, just a nice cruiser, planing on a nice gloss black paint job, finding a set of wheels or just blacking these ones out since the tires are actually pretty good, and some exhaust work(was brand new til my brother took a hack saw to it) and I was wondering if you guys know some tricks and have some info, like what's a good way to change the color of the vinyl top without replacing it? And this car has the autolite 4300 carb, any good advice of why the secondary isn't working? It's not froze up it moves pretty freely, and if you guys know any good websites to get parts for these things because I can't find much lol, here's a few pics of it currently....

Hey -- the 2-door variant of that car is a rare bird -- don't muck-it up because some guy who really wants to stick some time and money into making that thing nice may want it after you are done playing around with it!

Many years of experience -- I would say that 75% of all car restoration attempts end up making the car worse rather than better.

very cool project car, looks to be in really nice shape too! if I was you I would keep it blue, seems like a fairly rare color (most I see are white, gold or brown) plus it would save the hassle of painting the door jambs and changing the color of the top. get the hideaway lights working, find a set of turbine wheels and drive the crap out of it. remember to save everything you take off of it in a box, both for a reference for you and as a selling point in the future ( say you throw a holly carb and headers on it, keep the manifolds & autolite in the garage, include it with the car if it gets sold ) people go nuts for #'s matching equipment.

good luck with the project!

I don't have the time or money to restore this thing like show room quality, I just want the body to be in good shape and it to be reliable, because it would make one hell of a cruising car, body is alittle rougher then what you see in the pics(the common rear quarters) but got one patched and the other side isn't in awful shape, here's the patched one so far
