Default A concert I was the sound engineer for

This is Tigard High School's end of year concert for their guitar program. I was a student there, and helped with sound for the first 2 years, then for the last 3 I have been the head sound engineer. There will be more videos to come as they get uploaded. The first two in this post is a song that was played last year that the guy did awesome on, the second one is this year (keep in mind, theses are high schoolers... absolutely amazing!)

I absolutely love running all the cables, troubleshooting equipment, and making shit sound good, then sound LOUD. I wouldnt want to do it for a play tho... i have to do it for a concert or something like that that's challenging...

i think 18 groups in one night, changing after every song, running a 24 channel anolog board, and not knowing where exactly people are going to be playing, is about as challenging as it gets. especially if you haven't heard them play the songs before... i make it work tho

hahaha, yeah, thats the drawback... you get absolutely sick of the music. and you can at least sorta get away with the iPod as the lighting designer. Cant do that with sound lol

only rarely did i get to be the designer, usually i was just the tech that pushed the buttons.

easiest part about being lighting, all i have to do is hit go when the cues were called lol

lighting tech would be fun too. What I would want to do with the lighting is the same that i do with sound. Set it all up, troubleshoot it, and run the show. One man crew. (for the most part. sometimes I get some help from guys that dont know what they are doing, so I give them shitty tasks like running 5 feet of cable under auditorium seating up to the FOH board, or taping cables down, maybe get them to do some of the heavy lifting.)

eff gaffing stuff. Thats the only thing that I hate. Freaking tape sticks to your skin if you dont pull it off just right, and starts to get shit raw, or if it wraps itself around the cable, its a bitch and a half to remove.
