Yeah I know. I think it's because they limit engine size in LeMans.

All I can remember is the big turbo craze in the 80's. I don't think many of those engines lived to see the 90's. Not to mention most turbos that are around these days require premium fuel. Negating any fuel saving benefits the turbo gives. Granted, none of the above vehicles were ever meant to be fuel savers and a V-6 engine can be on hell of a beast. Time will tell how the power plants hold up.

Advancement in materials technology is a key factor in longevity.

Turbo motors back in the 80s required premium fuel back then too. I had an 86 turbo toyota 4x4 that was very reliable. My supercharged mr2 was very reliable.

My issue is the ecoturd, i dont think its worth a crap and ford seems to want to move to that compared to v8s

Imo the issue was people who didn't know how to break in a turbo engine

The issue is weight, you have a lightweight ecoboost with all that horsepower being forced by twins. If I have a turbo engine itll be burning diesel. I have yet to drive an ecoboost that gets anywhere near good mpg's or pull a heavy load up a steep grade and not get hot.

Like i said i never had issues with any of my boosted engines, but they werent ford trucks either. I love forced induction but in a pickup theres no replacement for a bigass v8

Time will tell. Ford does seem to be going all in with the turbo. They have their place but I'm not so sure a gasoline engine in a truck is it. Just my opinion.

And the maintenance over time is more important due to more moving parts, this always seemed to be the killer of many turbo lima engines from the 80s, just an observation of the ones I've seen you pull yards get and most aren't even salvageable.

Gotta let those turbos cool after a hard drive, so many people coked turbos because of that

Start doing that and that carbon crap ends up back in the engine as well.
