That piston is somewhere far away, I probably flew farther than the other parts

Sounds like how a lot of women maintain their cars. It's also justification for public transportation, bicycles and walking.

I know of one guy who buys himself a new car right after the clock hits 100,000 miles; he changes oil just once during his ownership, right before he trades it on a new one. No connecting rods fly out of the lower end and get embedded in the pavement below (yes, I have seen that happen, just once). More realistic is your lazy friend ran it low on oil, got the bearings nice and hot and one or more of the rod bearings tried to weld itself to the crank. The result of this lack of oil is in your pic story.

Add to that, abusing the engine (excess high revving, flooring it) when it's cold.

I was thinking that as well. No offense to your friend, but there are a lot of V6 mustang owners out there who think that because they have a mustang, they can hot rod it everywhere.

It does look like it ran low on oil and engine went bye bye.

I remember a story I read awhile back, V6 mustang blew his motor (he was street racing and redlined it) and they found the piston he blew out a 1/2 mile away down the road.
