Default Haven't done this for a while. A song I recorded.

I've mentioned before that I am on another forum full of musicians, and to keep people motivated to play and record, we do a quarterly "Recordingfest" where a theme is picked and everybody records something related to that theme.

This quarter's theme was Soundtracks/Showtunes. I picked the song "Scotty Doesn't Know" as originally performed by Lustra and featured in the movie Eurotrip.

I'm a little rusty because I haven't been playing or recording much lately, but it still came out alright.

I'm doing everything you hear.

Scotty Doesn't Know

Whatcha think?

31 views and one comment.

Either it's good enough that nobody has anything to say, or it's bad enough that you don't have anything to say.

Come on guys. I'm a musician. I yearn for attention and feedback....good or bad.

If it makes any difference, I've listened to this in my Ranger, and thought it sounded pretty good.

I wouldn't rely on thread views. The majority of thread views are likely from individuals not registered.

Your other thread of the Pinky Floyd cover likely got more attention because:
A) It's an amazing song by itself
B) The cover was amazing
C) The recording was crisp

Versus this new song, where:
A) The original song itself isn't very good as far as musical composition goes. It's a fun song with funny lyrics, not really a passionate song that can poke your emotions.
B) The cover is pretty much spot on. It's not amazing, it's not bad. It's pretty much what I expected a good cover to sound like.
C) The recording sounds like it has more a grunge garage feel.

There's really not much to be said as far as feedback IMHO. It's something that would be humorous to hear in between your sets to mix up the tempo a little. It's a good cover.

See, that's good feedback.

I agree that this song is more of a kitch thing, but it's a fun song.

As far as this one sounding more garage grunge, that probably has something to do with the way I did the drums.

For Wish You Were Here, I used electronic drums as triggers and went in to my software and corrected my mistakes and assigned professionally recorded drum sounds to my MIDI triggers.

This one, I just mic'ed my cheap drum kit and played the song. I did maybe half a dozen takes and used the best one.... (I'm the first to admit I'm not much of a drummer).

The lack of feedback is probably the difference between posting on a musicians forum, and posting on a Ford Ranger forum.

Something some buddies of mine and myself decided to do a
few years ago just for funzies.

I'm the terribly autotuned singer and way too loud keyboardist.

I've got some more serious stuff there that I did a few years back as well when I could still do stuff like that.
