Got the 'details' done on the stainless-steel Magnaflow X-pipe yesterday afternoon. Should be all ready for final install now.

Pictures show the extra bung our welder added for the wideband air/fuel sensor.

Magnaflow had a few 'suggestions' of usage (AKA: "Off-Road Use Only") stamped on the heat shield of each catalytic converter as well as a strap tacked onto the pipe itself.

Soooo - those were basically "removed" from sight via light grinding, a bit of smoothing & a quick shot of touch-up paint.

If I don't pass the dyno emission test due to actual emission readings - that is one thing (I'm fine with the outcome). However, I don't want them to have the thought in their head during the initial visual portion of the inspection (when they use the underbody mirror) before I even get strapped on the dyno to have a shot at the test.

Definitely use the coolant recovery tank. These cheap plastic OEM ones end up cracking on the bottom and leaking. And the Moroso tank adds a way cleaner look to the engine bay.

We got another day of work in today & kept making progress on the wiring for the sensors & whatnot.

We mounted the line-lock arming switch where the factory cigarette lighter was mounted. The lighter was exactly the same size as the keyed switch I wanted to use.

Without the key being in the closed position, the line-lock wont be armed which will prevent temporary drivers from having a bit too much fun.

In addition to overall system control, this setup will allow me to utilize the factory cruise control 'off' button as the trigger for the line-lock solenoid itself.

When this keyed 'arming switch' is in the open position - the factory cruise control & buttons will operate as designed from the factory 100% of the time.

However, when the keyed switch is closed - the SPDT relay we are adding will change state & allow the factory cruise control 'off' button to operate the line-lock system whenever it is held down.

Using the cruise button will allow me to activate the line-lock system without having to remove a hand from the steering wheel.

Because the factory cruise button is a momentary type switch, whenever I release it the line lock system will deactivate automatically.

We also transferred all of the factory O2 sensors & the new wideband sensor over to the new Magnaflow X-pipe. The crossover is now installed & off the garage floor as well!

Other than the switch - there isn't much to "show". Day full of wire loom installation, repinning factory connectors & planning our overall distribution.

Yeah, it "should" look like it belongs a bit more once it is powdercoated to 'match' the intake piping.

Also, in stock form - the quality from Moroso was very good (welds & shipping material etc.).

Thanks!

Using that location for the keyed arming switch along with the cruise control activation setup will definitely help keep the "stock-like appearance".

That keyed switch fit like it was meant to be.

Correct & I haven't even done that in about a year now.

Well in-between all of the tedious wiring going on for the Mach - I received a little 'present' today....

The items are back from powder coating:

I will be interesting in seeing them in. Just out like that, the black crinkle finish just seems uninspiring...

What the hell is with you and the crinkle texture? You covered the Ranger in it, and now you're going to ruin the Mustang with it too?

Yeah - it's not a "flash" type deal. But considering they are true custom fabricated one-off pieces - it's in the details IMO.

Similar to how I like my interiors. Remember, I'm the guy that painted over true carbon fiber just so it would match the stock charcoal gray interior. lol

PS - Ranger had a "satin black" (smooth) powdercoat on the suspension components as well as the beadlocks - The front bumper & inside of the bed had the texture - but that was a little product called Line-X.

Sorry - Maybe I should have "gone big" and plasti-dip everything then...Guess that's how it done "by the cool kids" these days? My bad.

I have a Torch Red car - w/ huge ass bright blue valve covers - which eliminates a fair amount of options for a 3rd color right off the bat (IMO). It's hard to pick "complimentary colors" at that point. lol

Plus, it's called 'class'.

It will make it look stock, since the texture should be close to factory plastic. That can be as (often more) respectable than something more "custom". Blue or red would be too much of either. Anything else would make it a rainbow. Black is the best accent color for red IMO, but then again I'm not huge on red so I like it broken up. Texture powder coatings take abuse better, but it doesn't really matter here. I think it will look good.

Good point. I think I will like it better when it is installed. The overall look should go together nicely.
