Default Any stereo users?

Anyone else here still have a stereo system?

My dad gave me his old system after I bought a tape deck (Receiver, speakers and cd player. The EQ doesn't work anymore). System is older than I am

Don't know speaker size, so my Xbox is there as sort of a reference

Feel like I'm taking a flash back in time looking at those pics. Seemed like everyone used to have big stereos like that back in the days.

I've got a couple; they don't get used like they once used to. Here's a (file photo) of my best receiver:

Heathkit AR-15, when that bad boy first came out not only was it the hottest receiver on the face of mother Earth, but since it's a Heathkit that means, you either like electronics and built it from the carefully packaged boxes of parts and the manuals they sent you, learned how, or somehow, found someone to build it for you. As for the price (in kit form) shown in that add......do an adjustment for inflation, that's around $3300 today.

my mother has her setup in the living room, still sounds great, better than a lot of the new setups IMO.

it's a nice Yamaha receiver with a denon 6 CD changer, huge 4 foot KLH speakers, a technics dual cassette player and a technics record player. the receiver has enough spare inputs for the cable TV box and our VCR/ DVD player, and a line in adapter for an MP3 player... kinda amazing scince it's from the 90's.

if I get a chance i'll grab a pic.

I'm pretty sure that's the exact system my mom bought when I was in college.

It sounds great.

----------

Oh, And those speaker covers should just pop off.

There's probably about a 10" woofer, 6" mid, and a horn in there, but I could be very wrong.

Definitely! I made a similar thread a while back but it didn't get much attention, I hope yours does better, OP! I'll be back with pictures soon. Got a few to dig up and a few to take.
