Default Michigan car insurance

Thinking about getting another car, currently have Progressive looking for a better deal, anyone have any suggestions? I've checked Farmers and they were a lot more expensive.

Wow. That's cheap. Do you have full coverage? I'm paying 136 a month for full coverage on my 04 Ranger and plpd on a 2000 Focus

I do have full coverage. I don't know how old you are, or your driving record. I'm 48, only have one ticket in the last ten years.

Farmers and 21st Century are online insurance companies, no agents. If you have a claim, the process takes longer unlike State Farm whose claims service is among the fastest and best.
State Farm doesn't gouge you if you choose to make payments and State Farm charges a couple of dollars for a payment plan.
If you choose to make payments with Progressive, their interest rate is well over 25%.
State Farm all the way.

I currently have USAA because I just bought a house through them and it makes everything cheaper to bundle all in one.

I used State Farm for years and was happy. I was paying right about $110 a month for max full coverage everything on my 2006 Ford Fivehundred and my wife's 2007 Mercury Mariner. My Fivehundred was destroyed in a storm. State Farm was WONDERFUL at the claim process. Sent a guy out to my house the second day after, he looked at it and said "yup...it's totaled" and I signed 2 pieces of paper. I had the check from my local agent the next day for a total of 3 days after the storm! They even arranged a company to come and pick up my car and everything. Very simple and very user friendly.

My entire neighborhood was effected by the storm (4'' hail stones) I have some neighbors that went through hell with several insurance companies. That was March 2013 and one guy across the street is a fireman and was using Geiko. It took him almost a year to settle for his destroyed Toyota Tundra! He was driving around all dented up bad and plastic on the windows!

What? I've been with Farmers since 1987 and I've always had an agent with a nearby office. Service has always been incredible, in fact I filed a claim last month (hit & run) and thanks to an efficient, streamlined process things were made right in a matter of hours. Never had to see an adjuster and never had to drive to some "claim center" and wait. I can't beat their price, it as if they reward me for not being a PITA constantly filing claims for damaged houses and cars. Add a spectacular credit score to this and you get great coverage at a price that can be beat by any major brand name.

Edit: A coworker of mine was from Michigan; he told me that thanks to MI having mandatory liability in order to get tabs, that the companies conspicuously were price gouging. Maybe things changed; something to think about.

I live in Ohio but have Amica based in R.I. I have a local agent, and they have treated me well. I found them by accident (pardon the pun) by using an Internet rate quote comparison site. May be worth checking into. Good luck!

USAA is as far as I know the cheaper one when you are connected to the Army. If you are getting a comprehensive insurance, try to get a quote online especially those insurance compare sites to give you an idea of the different rates.
