Riding Shotgun
Judging by the title, you may think this is a thread about riding in the passenger seat of a Ford Ranger. It is not. I am looking to see what kinds of shotguns - or other long guns - that you keep in your Rangers (or other trucks). I'm looking to get a beater gun for my truck for pigs and two-legged varmints, and was curious to see what y'all keep, if anything. I have shotguns, but none I'm willing to keep in the back of a truck for an extended time.

Re: Riding Shotgun
I've got a Winchester SXP Defender that I just picked up not long ago. I bring it with me when I head out but I wouldn't leave it in there.
On a side not what kind of a rack do you have? I bought one for my back window but the way the seal is I don't think it is going to work.

Re: Riding Shotgun
I have a hard case with a lock, as well as a soft case that I press the seats back up against with a standard cab for transport when I'm going to the range. I live close enough to a city that I don't want to leave it in a rack, but far out enough that I have a need for a gun capable of dispatching pigs if need be. Most intermediate rifles have doubled or tripled in price in the area (Saigas and WASRs were a perfect option back in 2011, but I was too young to get one myself).

Re: Riding Shotgun
An old beat up winchester 94 30-30 would be perfect for this...

Re: Riding Shotgun
Years ago, my brother-in-law rigged a holder for his rifle to stand vertical along side the stick shift. The top had a cap-like piece that slipped over the end of the barrel to hold it against the dash. All he had to do was lift it and pull the gun free. Granted, that was in a full sized truck, but I thought it was ingenious for use where the law allowed. This way he could stomp around his home territory in Colorado and always have it at the ready. It would be smart to not have a round in the chamber..
