Default New Stuff Has Arrived....

Today was an awesome day. I got my order in from WestCoast Shaving supplies and I also got another epic shave, but it was with the safety razor and not the Feather Artist SS non folding Japanese straight razor. It's still early yet but it did pretty good in my trouble spots:

These guys are awesome. If you ever need any shaving stuff then these guys is who you need to talk to. And they're affordable as well:

Here's what I got:

Here's the straight razor/shavette I ordered:

^ It's pretty cool and I consider it a hybrid type of razor that can be used like a safety razor with the correct blade and the old Noxema trick (rinse with hot water and apply Noxema between passes for an ultra slick surface). Here's the entire length of the shavette:

^ It's got a really comfortable handle with an excellent grip that I found very easy to use. Here's a closer look at the head of the shavette (blade holder) :

^ It's got a rolled edge which takes the pressure off of the blade and skin which provides a close and smooth shave with the right blade. Speaking of blades, don't get these because they're way too sharp and they snag really bad:

^ These need the alot of glide to get a comfortable shave. In fact alot more than normal:

^ The razor comes apart really easy for cleaning and blade removal is a breeze. This stuff here is awesome and performs really good:

^ The scent this stuff has is a various mixture of various hardwoods. After shaving you run this block under cold water to seal off your pores. Unfortunately it's not as good as the stytic pens that are on the market at a much cheaper price:

^ It's decent but like I said there's better stuff out there. I added this stuff to my post shaving routine to help aid in healing if I get too close of a shave and get a touch of razor burn:

^ this helped out alot with razor burn and it was very affordable compared to the shaving oils that are on the market.

Yeah I have to get new blades for my japanese straight razor. Those are extremely aggressive in fact they're too aggressive for me at this time. Merkur makes a good razor, but their blades is not that good. Some people like while others hate them. Here's a little tip for you. Put on some Noxema before you start and before each pass and you'll get an epic shave. The alum block I purchased isn't that good try to avoid buying it. The Feather Super Professional blades don't agree with me.

Good grief. I bet you beard gets wet when you go to take a leak, L.O.L. Yeah I added Noxema to my pre-shave routine and baby oil to my post shave routine to help get extra glide and to avoid getting razor burn.

Aparently my face does not like this stuff:

^ My face is about as red as the container is. Think of a severe sunburn that's on the verge of sun poisoning.

I have an order set up with west coast shaving, just waiting for my pay check. How many Gillette Silver Blue blades should I get to begin with?

You should buy a combo blade pack if its your first DE razor to see what works best.

You aint kidding there. The green tub might be ok for me because I use the pre and post shave version of it and it doesn't cause any irritation, but still I'm not taking any chances.

5 will be good for now because you might not like them. I'd get a DE sampler pack. It allows you to try different DE blades to determine what you like.

Cool. I'll pick up 5 Sliver Blues and a DE sampler pack. I know the Edwin Jagger razor comes with 5 Derby blades also.

And I'm going to go to shaving cream instead of the shave gel I use now. Thinking about getting Barbasol shave cream and see how that is.

The Barbasol cream is decent depending on which formula you get. I find that this does extremely well if you've got sensitive skin and want a close shave without any nicks or cuts:

^ Their regular sensitive skin formula has no glide compared to this formula. This stuff can't be used with a brush, but it takes very little of it to get a decent amount of lather. As far as shave gels go this stuff is king:

^ This stuff is really good for safety razors because it has glide which is what you want in all of your creams, soaps and foams. The only problem is that it doesn't last. The Derby blades are not that good. They get alot of mixed reviews (mostly bad) and most people like the Gillette Silver Blue DE blades or the Gillette 7 "O" Clock DE blades.
