Hey there guys.... so I just thought I'd share about my unique experience on the way to work this morning. I was driving along and first I was trying to get onto the highway and traffic was all backed up... why? There was an accident at the bottom of the on-ramp. Come to find out when I got down there that a Saturn car smashed into the bumper of, you guessed it a 2004ish Ford Ranger. Well I was going by and I look at the damage.... the ranger had maybe a few scratches in the chrome trim on the bumper, but that was it! And the Saturn was a wreck, the hood was all bent up like a V and the front bumper was on the ground, both headlights were smashed out, and the airbags inside had gone off.
I guess +1 for the Ranger on being good in a rear end crash.
But now, it gets wierd, because I was just thinking to myself as I got closer to work that I was happy my truck would do so well in an accident (hope it never happens, but just in case it did)... and I was wondering how it would do in a front end impact.
Then I notice traffic slowing to a stop again.... and just out of pure coinsidence there was another 2004ish ford ranger in an accident with a 2004ish Pontiac Grand Am... but this time the ranger looks to have smashed into the rear of the grand Am while trying to merge off of the highway.
So we creep past the accident again in the slow moving traffic, and I take a look.... the Grand Am has the trunk smashed all the way up to the rear wheel wells... completely not driveable, and as we pass I look back at the front of the Ranger, the only damage was that the bottom plastic piece of the bumper was cracked, but the rest still looked brand new!
+1 again for the ranger!
All I can say is that this makes me very happy about my chances if I was ever in an accident in the Ranger.
Anybody want to tell me why our truck seems to be so well reinforced? Is it because of the Towing ability? Is this outcome from the accidents normal?
