Default Dual Crash on the Highway

Hey there guys.... so I just thought I'd share about my unique experience on the way to work this morning. I was driving along and first I was trying to get onto the highway and traffic was all backed up... why? There was an accident at the bottom of the on-ramp. Come to find out when I got down there that a Saturn car smashed into the bumper of, you guessed it a 2004ish Ford Ranger. Well I was going by and I look at the damage.... the ranger had maybe a few scratches in the chrome trim on the bumper, but that was it! And the Saturn was a wreck, the hood was all bent up like a V and the front bumper was on the ground, both headlights were smashed out, and the airbags inside had gone off.

I guess +1 for the Ranger on being good in a rear end crash.

But now, it gets wierd, because I was just thinking to myself as I got closer to work that I was happy my truck would do so well in an accident (hope it never happens, but just in case it did)... and I was wondering how it would do in a front end impact.

Then I notice traffic slowing to a stop again.... and just out of pure coinsidence there was another 2004ish ford ranger in an accident with a 2004ish Pontiac Grand Am... but this time the ranger looks to have smashed into the rear of the grand Am while trying to merge off of the highway.

So we creep past the accident again in the slow moving traffic, and I take a look.... the Grand Am has the trunk smashed all the way up to the rear wheel wells... completely not driveable, and as we pass I look back at the front of the Ranger, the only damage was that the bottom plastic piece of the bumper was cracked, but the rest still looked brand new!

+1 again for the ranger!

All I can say is that this makes me very happy about my chances if I was ever in an accident in the Ranger.

Anybody want to tell me why our truck seems to be so well reinforced? Is it because of the Towing ability? Is this outcome from the accidents normal?

a civic tried to take me out in the parking lot of my highschool, my fender was bent, header panel was torn up, bumper was bent and headlight/corner light were smashed.

but the civic was TOTALED, the control arms on the pass side were snapped, the drive train was all fucked up, hood was 4 inches to the left of where it shouldve been, the door was broken, glass in the door cracked like it does when its hit, windshield was spiderwebbed the whole way across.

long story short

Domestic > import

my dad rolled a either 86 or 87 ranger onto its side, dont know the speeds becuase he was asleep, but there was no body damage except the rust, but the rear brake line did break and the frame did get slightly bent, and the 2 left tires went flat.

He later did the same thing with a 97 f150, and after seeing the damage on that its a miracle he lived, totaled and then some.

And before I was born he had the rear shocks break at the same time on an 85 ranger, he jumped a ditch and hit a bunch of trees, major body damage but was drivable, we later took the engine out and put it in the 86 or 87 ranger.

Ford rangers are just really tough trucks...

My step dad put his 94 on its side and it only caved the door and broke a hinge. He could have pushed back over and drove home but the cop wouldn't let him.
