Default Low Profile Storage Box For Bed?

Is anyone running a low profile (preferably metal/diamond plate) storage box that bolts down in the bed? I don't really want a full on, run of the mill tool box. Something that sits just under or even with the bed rails and is lockable. See pic below. Thanks!

They're typically called "tool chests" or simply "bed chests". "Low profile" usually refers to the height above the bed rails on a crossover toolbox (aka mounts to bed rails).

There's multiple brands out there...Delta, Kobalt, ProTech, DeeZee, etc...blahblahblah. Alot of it depends on your budget. You could be just fine with a plastic lockable random brand storage box. Best way to mount it is using nutserts or threadserts as they're often called. The flanged ones work best on the bed floor.

Here's what I first thought you were after:

Here's what I run now. The biggest floor mounted chest I could find that would fit. Can't even remember the brand but was purchased through either Northern Tool or Tractor Supply. It actually sticks up past the bed rails almost an inch....so it isn't doable with a tonneau cover.

Yup, that's the ticket! I was thinking of actually using the bed bolts to mount the box. Did you have issues with leaves or debris getting stuck behind or under the box when you didn't have a topper on?

Not really. The box fits under my headache rack helping reduce any leaf or needle build up. Had way more build up with the old crossover box and rack because of the 2" gap.

Mounting via bed bolts could work....but I preferred the ease of stand alone fasteners for the box. And having 4 of them.
