Default And then it happend today.....

Well after looking for a few months I found a replacement for the Ranger. 05 Subaru Outback. It only has 39,000 miles and is just the base model. These things come well equipped tho, auto, power windows, power locks, heated front seats, information center (mpg, avg mpg, outside temp, time driven and distance til empty). It also has all kinds of cool lil things like storage above the spare tire, rear power outlet and storage on both sides of the cargo area. Last but no least this thing doubles what the Ranger got of MPG. I don't know why but the Ranger only got 13mpg or less no matter what.

Over the past year they have closed 99% of the trails in Rawley Springs (where we use to camp and go muddin) and with everyone having different work schedules we hardly ever got to go camping anymore. I hardly hauled anything with the truck and trying to ride around with a dog and g/f was a PITA. I was sad to see it go but it just didn't suit me and what I needed in a vehicle anymore. With the Subaru being AWD I can get to all the camp sites that are still open and it will get me to all of the hiking trails around here. I have yet to find a forum for the Outbacks that are as good as the Ranger ones so I will still be on here just not as much.

I did the Subaru thing. Loved it at first, then HATED it when everything started to break. But you got a long time before that happens with only 39,000 on it. There aren't really many Outback specific forums, but just join a Legacy forum. Their the exact same car except one has a longer roof. I used to be on sl-i.net, but the majority of those guys are 95-99 Legacy guys. Check out NASIOC.com for all and any info you will ever need, except those guys are a bunch of stuck up STi guys. Ignore their bullshit and search for the info you need, you will find it.

Congrats on the new ride though, an 05 with less than 40K miles is impressive.

I had 3 subies, loved em. They are a PITA when they break though that's for sure. Good luck with it.

We have a dealer in town which is where this one was bought. The next closest one that I know of is 45mins away.

My buddy has an 08 with 100,000 miles. He drives the crap out of it and love his Outback. My grandma has had Subaru's on and off for the past 15 years and loves them. She always ends up going back to a Subaru. Everyone says they are a PITA when something breaks but with regular maintenance I think I have a while. LOL

The STI's are bad ass. But the insurance sucks, they sit too low and not enough room. When you have 3 guys, a dog and hiking gear you need all the room you can get. Not to mention all of the go fast parts I would want to buy. LOL. This Subi will still see off road action. Not as hard core as the Ranger tho.
