Gasless mig welder
Anyone go to Home Depot, harbor freight, or lowes and pick up a gasless mig welder and if so how happy are you with the welds it makes and would it be strong enough to weld brush guards and possibly bumpers?

Re: Gasless mig welder
I prefer shielding gas thank you. I also prefer a quality welder too.
Flux core does it's job, but not as well as separate shielding does.

Re: Gasless mig welder
Honestly the weld paks that home depot sells are good little rigs. That said if your going to make a living off one prob not for you, but if you want a little welder to build stuff and dont have alot of room they are awesome. Plus you can still hook up gas on the larger units weld pak 180 and 140 are good. They have good reviews for a reason. Not a single one returned has ever had an issue with it. In all my tests they work awesome, If I have the spare change one of these days ill be getting one for my garage.

Re: Gasless mig welder
I only worry about parts availability on the cheap ones. I'd rather buy a few year old used unit from Lincoln or Miller than purchase a new off brand cheap one. Then again, I've also moved past having a 110 welder too. So I'm in a slightly different mindset. However, I was impressed with the Hobart 110 I saw and eventually used that was purchased from a farm supply store. Decently priced little workhorse.
Do I weld for a living? No. Do I do small projects? Absolutely.
