Pretty chilling video

This just became available today. It is gun-sight video of an incident involving the killing of 12 Iraqi civilians by helicopter pilots. two of the civilians killed worked for reuters as journalists.
I know that sometimes collateral damage and friendly fire happens in war, and that civilians die; but this incident, with the raw footage and audio of the pilots begging for permission to kill the people on the ground is pretty clearly not some random event. Two children were seriously wounded, they were in a van that drove up to try to save one of the civilians shot. watch for yourself, this type of stuff usually doesn't make it on the national news.

jesus, just faggots with too much power. id love for those pilots to have gotten shot down. only 2 of the eight had "guns" which were clearly not. but yet they shoot down everybody

Looks to me like they followed protocol. Maybe it was nothing, but how many lives would have been lost if the military hadn't taken action. War isn't pretty, and you can't win a war by being nice. These weren't random pedestrians, these were people in a war zone, determined to have weapons, therefore the enemy. As far as the kids go, how stupid are you to drive into an active zone, right after the area was strafed my helicopters, with your kids in the car and the choppers still hovering? Personally, Id rather a couple of reporters in the wrong place with the wrong people die, than those people later shoot at my cousin, and possibly kill him. This is war people, quit thinking it's supposed to be candy canes and teddy bears.

x2 to everything john said.... I saw what appeared to be an RPG(i literally typed out RBV!) in that guys arms. Seems to me they(pilot/gunner) didn't do anything wrong...just an unfortunate series of events. Not the pilot/gunner's fault. It's war.

Fucking hippies claiming this was all purposeful innocent slaying.

maybe if those idiots over there would attack like a normal army stuff like this wouldn't happen... but nooooooooo they have to hide bombs... use suicide bombers snipe from the back of specially designed cars... they brought it on themselves. I feel bad that more lives were lost and its a shame that children were hurt, but don't start shit..... wont be shit

x2! I did think it looked like an RPG, the way they seemed to be hiding behind that wall looking down the street at 4:12, way to sketchy to be taken lightly when your troops are relatively close.
Sucks that it happened to be a journalist, and children were injured, but really, like others have said, why drive up to a place that was obviously just hit? They may not have known any better and not realized that those loud hovering hunks of metal in the sky are choppers aiming at you.

everyone in Iraq has a gun. if you don't have a gun, your pretty much dead. There is no security over there and no one who would help you. One of my friends that lives here now used to live in iraq until 2006, he had a gun because the US army was only protecting the oil sites and the palaces. How come its ok for US civilians to have guns here, but not ok for Iraqis to have guns?
The first time they shot would have been considered mistaken identity and no one would be upset about that, but the pilots go back and say to eachother there is someone still alive and he is unarmed, than the van pulls up and unarmed civilians get out and then they are shot too. I'm pretty sure its not standard operating procedure to kill wounded unarmed enemy combatants anyway. And there were no troops in the area, they said that before the pilots started shooting, it took 8 minutes for the nearest ground troops to arrive.
What the pilots were saying was pretty inappropriate, they treated this like it was just a game and not real life where they just killed 12 people.

The civilians where in the right place, wrong time........casualties of war, PLAIN & SIMPLE!

I personally think, we shouldn't be puttin our ground troops or chopper in harms way, "JUST BOMB the crap out of the place from the air"

I have two brothers over there and one of them is a blackhawk pilot. I know from taking to him on the phone how scared he is of people on the ground with RPG weapons. I agree with the people above who stated that it was a active war zone soooo why would you drive into it unless you were there on shady business anyhow. I want my brothers back and the more of them without a gun gives them a better chance of coming home alive.
