Default Detering pests in city limits???

I'm in need of ideas of how to keep animals out of my friggin yard.

example 1) domestic neighborhood cats like to shit in my garden
example 2) neighbors dogs continually either shit in front yard or bust through the dang fence
example 3) either skunks or possums keep diggin up my front lawn.

biggest problem is that it's illegal to shoot them in the city lol! plus the neighbors would hate me if i shot fluffy lol

i've thought about the motion sensored sprinkler, ultrasonic sound emitters, nighttime strobing lights, coyote piss spray/granules, cayenne papper...

i've even thought about eating a lot of red meat & taking a dump out there myself just to see if i can get them to stop!!!!!!!!

any input is greatly appreciated!

----------

oh, & i'm gonna build a trap this weekend out of boards & chicken wire haha! see i i can catch one lol

Based on personal experience and how people act today, don't talk to any neighbors, nothing good will become of it.

Here's how it's been dealt with:

*Take the cats for a drive. Every barn needs a few cats to control the mice population. Thank you Ford Motor Company for providing products to facilitate the after dark operation, you guys are awesome!

*Chocolate flavored exlax, my old friend. Put this in cat food/tuna/dog food/hamburger/chunk of hot dog and leave it out for the little bastard(s) to eat. Fluffy eats that spiked tuna, annoying neighbor who lets their cat out to chit in on my property lets it in, fluffy get's the shits in the middle of the night and goes spining 'round the living room spraying poo on owners property. Good morning Joe, beautiful day is'nt it!!!

* Cayenne pepper doesn't just go on your food, it goes in your flower beds and any other place where the offender is causing problems. They either walk in it and end up licking their paws and the pepper or they sniff at the ground and get blasted. I love using psychology, the pain/pleasure principle, it's pretty effective. This was another barking in my front yard incident in the dark morning hours, lol!

*Traps. Buy, borrow or rent one. When you catch a violator, take it to the animal shelter. After the uncool pet owner repeatedly pays to get their animal back, they sometimes get the idea that to avoid this it would be good to not turn it lose on their neighbors. Traps my also help you with skunks, possums, and if you have them, 'coons and marmots. You may have to chain and lock the trap so as to discourage a weird neighbor from stealing it.

*In my neck of the woods, the law requires people walking dogs to have a poo bag with them. Check your laws and if yo do to, investigate the possibility of taking a pic of the dog in action and send it to the animal people. Hopefully they write a ticket. Same reason as traps, money.

*Rigging up a motion sensor sprinkler ia an option

*Keep the ground wet in the flower beds and *most* cats will find a new neighbors property to chit on.

*Lay and secure chicken wire on the ground in flower beds

*I have an electric fence charger. When someones dog that they "cleverly" let out early in the morning when it was dark and they thought nobody noticed them release it came pizzing on my shrubs, I wrapped some chicken wire around them down low and hooked up that fence zapper. Early one morning there was a most horrific yelp and howling. I lollered as I lay in bed. I never had a dog pizz on those shrubs again. Ever.

*Seriously, if you have skunks, coons, possums andif they are in your back yard and if you can open a window without being noticed, shoot them with a .22 short. Sounds like a firecracker.

***Before "doing what you need to do" to solve the problems caused be bad neighbors, investigate the laws in your area. Felony animal cruelty charges could make the trap look pretty good. This should be enough to get you thinking; there are more. And by now, I'm sure you understand why lose lips sink ships, so do what ya gotta do and be done with it.

On edit: Bonus points if you resort to exlax and the problem animal resides in a home with light/white colored carpet and furniture. The poo event and subsequent chit stains will be grounds for their disposing of the animal.

I'm having a problem with neighbors overfeeding squirrels, they bury nuts and stupid trees keep popping up in the wrong places, the herd now needs to be seriously thinned and I've noticed they resist entering traps. Is it true that squirrels drink anti freeze?

I'm sure that on the flip side they think society at large needs to tolerate their self centered attitude towards other people and I bet they haven't even considered the impact fluffy has on people around them including you and other neighbors. Maybe if they don't want neighbors screwing with and shooting fluffy they shouldn't let it out to screw with and cause problems for the neighbors.

For the cat spay it with the hose they don't like that at all if it gets cold where you live a bucket of water and it might not freeze solid before it get to its own house.
Trap the other critters and let them go miles away and I do mean miles they tend to come back

I wish I had thought of this when my neighbor across the street was letting his 2 cats roam free!
Need to keep this in mind.
