Re: Ford's new police interceptors
i though the reason the police force moved to ford over chevy was because the impalas went FWD and the crown vics were RWD. but i do like the way the taurus looks but you cant beat those police crown vics. they just look like a cop car. a taurus to me looks like a family car. like a pos charger 4 door wtf

Re: Ford's new police interceptors
yeah, but even tho the Taurus is a full size, the Fusion managed to have more room. Very well designed. Plus the CV P71 is so great because it was very durable, had good handling, even for its size, had a nice big trunk, fits people in the back uncomfortably and had less downtime. The Chevy impalas and Chargers were mostly just v6's, and weren't as tough as the CV, and as a result they were in the garage more. And I think the CV's were cheaper, had cheaper parts and were even easier to work on.

Re: Ford's new police interceptors
Although the cv p71 screams cop car, i think it would be nice to have something else to choose from. The dodges sucks.. impalas are fwd which would be useless in 99% of rural county sheriffs work. ( would get stuck) and they are just not fast. i would rather drive my ranger than drive a impala... ( probally have more fun too.) but i think if they can make the taurus RWD 3.5 with the ecoboost, and still have room. than thats the new police car hands down. i would drive one.

Re: Ford's new police interceptors
They use the new Chevy's up here in Montana. I think they are bad ass, but I'd still take the taurus over it. The FWD Chevy actually does really well in the snow. The Chargers are bad ass too, we have plenty of those back home in some of the City municipals, but I don't know how well they do for a cop car

Re: Ford's new police interceptors
IF Ford stuck a 3.5 ecoboost in the CV P71, then you'll have a super winner lol. Oh well, i think overall chevy might take over the police market with the new caprice. The Charger is a shitbox literally, most of them are slow v6's, and they like to fail. What will probably happen is the cops will just keep and maintain their CV's for as long as possible until the rot apart. Some departments still have 1990's CV's and Taurus's and Classic Caprice's.

Yeah, they don't have any here in Montana I've seen the rwd platform isn't that good in the snow. But they do have them back home in some places, and they are sick!! I've had a couple sneak up on my quick and not known because I was looking for the Vic headlights. I'm a night owl so that's mostly when I see police out lol

I couldn't remember which engine I had seen. I don't know why you would even offer the 3.5 in the Charger, such a big car needs a huge engine to make it fast. they have a ton of the Chevy's at home, and those have the 5.3 in them, those are stupid quick.

Re: Ford's new police interceptors
I think they should keep the crown vic and update it. The taurus is all right but the crown vic just looks like it fits with the police. I have done police ride-alongs in the crown fics and a lot of the officers prefer the crown vics over dodges and chevy's.

x2 I've heard that a lot. And Ford cornered the market on these kind of rigs years ago when GM and Dodge only had fwd platforms to offer. But the Vic is aging. And it may no longer be profitable for Ford to redesign them, since the average age of a private buyer is 68, and they really only sell them to fleets or older generations of people
