Thus, leading me to the Ranger. I'm here because I found a $800 97 Ranger on craigslist. It has a cracked frame and a broken driver side leaf spring. I'm trying to find out if the truck, in that condition with 218,000 miles is worth the buy. I'm currently driving my mom's car and in need of a vehicle that I can put 500+ miles a week on, for a decent price.
The craigslist link is: http://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/5264295107.html
I spoke with the owner and he's currently on a trip and will be back monday, so I have a little bit of time to figure this out.

Hey Cooldrew,
I had the leaf spring issue with my Ranger too.
I found a local towing service that does some mechanic work too.
If you can find someone like this, it make all the difference in keeping your old truck going at very low cost repairs.
They will use used junkyard parts, or pull parts off of cars or trucks they have in the yard to keep you running. Welding repairs is all part of this type of towing / garage type of service.
I think the leaf springs, used parts and labor was like $250.
I hope that suggestion helps.
That truck looks cool if you can plan for maintenance that is affordable.
