Default Maryland Historic tags?

first post

Hey all,

I recently purchased a '94 Ranger 4.0 xlt 4x4OR on an impulse. The vehicle's temporary registration is VA, but I'm looking to get it reg'd in MD with historic tags to save some $.

Anyone here ever try to pursue this or had trouble meeting the non-alteration requirements with minor things like 31" AT tires or aftermarket side mirrors/flares?

Thanks for any info. Looking forward (in a way) to seeking your guidance on repairs in the future.

Are you going to actually drive this truck on public roads at all?

If so, I wouldn't think getting it registered as a "historic vehicle" would be worth it as far an insurance liability goes....

"A vehicle registered as historic cannot be used for general daily transportation, or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways."
"It can only be used in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses."

Thanks for the reply

After some more digging, I think I'm going to give it a whirl since the truck really would be for occasional use only, parked off-street, etc. I've a daily driver already registered, so as long as I'm not driving it all the time and I'm not being an ass on the road or modding, I don't expect there'll be much issue.
