I need some guitar lessons

Anyone play guitar? I wanna teach myself but i would like to get the notes if i could or any help is appreciated, all I have is a acustic guitar.

ultimate-guitar.com is a great place to get songs in TAB. i would recommend getting a beginning guitar book that has lessons on reading music with the musical alphabet. TAB is great, but lacks any details on the time and rythym of the song. for your finger positions, learn three chords, G, C and D. play them in succession going from each to the next and it will help get you movement down. Also, always keep your thumb right in the middle of the neck of the guitar, if your thumb pops out above the neck, it will be harder to play chords.

yea im on some site learning those cords as we speek Thanks for the help. Whats the best guitar book to buy. Essitnal ? I bought those books when I was in high school marching band I played the trombone.

i play, try tabs. there really easy to learn.

lol, i dunno which ones are good, i had one that came with my acoustic, but i never looked at it lol, i played guitar in high school for 4 years.

seems to me like the bar chords are easiest to play but hardest on an acoustic...I would stick to learning songs off ultimate-guitar.com
Dude....your in the hardest part of learning....is teaching your fingers the chords...

Why dont we start by asking...what song are you interested in learning first..and what chords are you working on first....

I actually have a few songs i wrote I wanna learn a few cords and see what I can come up with. OH yea my fingers hurt like crap.

If you want to learn chords, and know how they sound, go to looknohands.com. click on 'chord house', and then go to 'guitar room, easy'. it has an audio sample of the chord, and lists pretty much every chord you could think of. This is of great help for me. It also tells me how to play chords that some people eff up on TAB sites. Also, feel free to check out guitartabs.cc, it is like ultimate-guitar.com, but has some songs that they don't. I also have a poster I bought at a store (like Wal-Mart) that lists the basic chords for ever note, A, B, C, D, E, F, G. Make sure you have a tuner, or can tune by ear as well

All guitar books should do. However, I think most have stuff you really don't need to learn such as reading notes. All they're good for is finding how long a note lasts other than that it's useless and you just use tablature. It tells you where and what note to play on the neck. Back then I was a huge Metallica fan and I saw this book Learn to Play Guitar w/ Metallica and that's where I got most of my stuff in the beginning. I thought it was helpful since it had mostly everything in it such as reading notes, tablature, different types of chords, scales, and everything else most beginning guitar books don't have. Ultimate-guitar.com has tons of tutorials so that can also be a start. Have fun!
