wouldn't have any problems with virus's or lag or internet browser kicking you out, if you would of bought a mac

best investment i have ever done! pricey yes but you get your moneys worth in the long run with no hassles or frustration. not trying to brag but you said you are new to the computer world so i'm just giving some tips. mac's are great! shit my old 98 mac still works great lol here is a pic of the old best

Of the 4 people I know with Mac's, 4 have had virus problems and 1 of those people has gone back to MS, 1 other is considering it because of hardware problems he is having.
There is no such thing as a virus, spy ware, trojan or worm free system, some are just a little more immune than others. The reason for most peoples problems with any OS, is their lack of understanding of what any of the aforementioned will do as far as wreaking havoc on an OS. All OS's should have a working anti virus, spy-ware program running at all times and a trojan detector that runs daily. If you get a worm, you probably won't know it till it's too late anyway. The worm is designed to do different things, at present, they seem to collect all personnel information that is stored on the hard drive or any other media that is connected prior to the destruction, transmit it back to where ever, then strip all the files from the hard drive, making the computer worthless until the hard drive is erased, then reloaded. Any one care to guess what you have lost from your computer? EVERYTHING,that includes information on all partitions, any attached hard drives, thumb drives and memory cards that are connected to the computer when the attack happens. If you don't erase or dispose of the external devises, you will get the problem again as soon as you reconnect them, it all starts again. The worms don't care what OS you have, all are written to attack a variety of computers. That is what you can fix, what about all the personnel information that went to who knows where?
The main reason for less problems with the Mac's in the past, there were fewer of them, now they are becoming more popular, and getting more attention, that means more problems. Just hang tough, your turn is coming, the down side of that is the lack of support from resources to fight these problems.
As far as Firefox goes. This is a browser that is open source, constructed and maintained by Mozzila. I have used Firefox from its inception. It is much easier than IE and less intrusive. It has more options and a variety of add-on's that will stagger the masses. There are other browsers out in internet world that are quite good, but, most anything will beat IE and its lack of protection for the user, it was designed to be trouble free for MS, and it would be trouble free for the user if MS would update it when they should, rather than when they get around to it.

man you blow it to much out of portion. just stay off porn and don't give out info on stupid pop ups and your be just fine. my father has the same 98 mac as my old blue still works but out dated also so he bumped up to the new 24 inch over a year ago. macs can get virus but there are 10x more pc out there thats why they get hit the hardest. i have never ever seen a mac with a virus in all my life. and trust me i watch a lot of porn lol what guy wouldnt with a super fast computer

and even if a did get a virus its backed up with my 3 year warranty anyways. and it is covered trust me. i plan on getting a new mac every three years now anyways. Macs are what they call oh yea the best for a reason. Bill gates copied the software from mac back in the 80's. just changed it around. Mac wouldn't be the best if it was prone to virus like ^ he thinks they are. clear the cookies and man your be just fine

my family has 6 macs and one and i mean one has never ever had a problem!! they are not crap computers thats for sure. the only thing that goes out on these is the batteys on the mac books. plus if you go on to a site where it may be unprotected. it pops up telling you your computer will be unprotected if you enter this site. and your dumb ass friends who ever had the mac's probley went into the site and well thats there fault. get the new snow leopard keep up on any updates that come out and well your be smooth sailing.

Exactly, which is why the whole "Mac is better because virus authors ignore us" is a weak argument IMHO. There is a direct correlation between the size of the market, and the number of viruses for the product. The one and only reason Mac viruses are rare is due to the simple fact that Macs still make up a small percentage of the market.

Use what ever floats your boat, I don't care. The fact that your Dad's old Mac has never had a virus and is just old comes back to what I said earlier, they were not popular enough for the hackers to care about then, that is changing.
And someone didn't understand the wording, now that you and your Mac are becoming more popular, they are going to get hit more and more. I don't care what people think about any OS, they all have good and bad, but the one thing that holds true always, you will get a virus/ spy-ware/trojan/worm. It might not happen today and it probably won't happen from a porn sight, probably come in an email. But it is going to happen, live with it.
I know (I work on PC's) people that are still running Windows 95, they aren't going to change. I don't care whether they do or not. Most of those with the old systems believe that everyone has passed over them to infect the new systems that are out there, they may well be right.
I suggest you read your warranty again, I haven't seen or heard of any MAC or PC having a warranty for virus's and such.
Don't explode on the author, he doesn't care, he is just pointing out the obvious, you want to ignore it, be my guest.

cost me a shiny penny more but its worth it

and i didn't blow up on the author just giving him advise for a great computer. i pointed that out if you don't mind reading a little. i'm a hard core mac man. just like i'm a hard core ford man. i'm going to fight for what i love. reply if you want. i'm just going to keep coming man

you can point out the dee dee dee's. i didn't say pc were bad either. they are great for the money. shit when you make your own you got a true battle station on your hand. get 8g of ram and a super good graphics card and man,talk about a ultimate gaming system. well i am actually going to stop now. internet fights are really worthless. I'm going to stick to what this site is. FRF BABY!!! FTW!!!!
