Default Netbooks

There's a new one at walmart that i think about buying (Acer, N450/1g/250g/10"). Can you play old games on a N450 chip? Things like C&C, COD, NFS, Starcraft, old games.

I also read it's not as hard on battery life as a N270 chip, but i thought i'd ask and see if someone knew on here.

good question. i imagine you could play a game. may be tough on the small display but it would probably run it. I want to get one of these for travel/work.

From my very limited experience with laptop computers, you want to stay away from shared memory as far as gaming goes.

I was playing FPS games on a fairly built laptop, with a 256DDR ATI card and it ended up frying the card and motherboard simultaneously.

I have had my moms Acer for a few months now... don't know about the gaming but I hate using it. It's nice that it's so portable but it's sooo tiny. I have my DV9000 that I use most of the time which is great with a 17" screen and has the separate number portion of the keyboard... It's kind of a pain to lug around but never so much that I would prefer the small Acer... not worth it IMO.

I have two laptops, one with single core and one with dual, both can play recent rpgs fine, but only the dual can play doom 3 and more advanced games (it has an auto-adjustable onboard intel chip). For the netbook, i'm thinking about old and simple games that i used to play on an amd xp1600 pos.

Any mac laptop can be compared to a real pc version for half the price, if not lower, without the OS limitations of course.

But i'm really looking for a smaller alternative to my current laptop, hence the netbook option. I would never limit myself to a mac, sorry.

its all cool man no hard feelings everyone has there opinion on different things. i'm just saying if your planing on paying low price well your get your moneys worth. More money the better. that goes for both pc and mac.

You know what, i just re-read what i wrote, and it sounded condescending.

Sorry about that, i just have a general hatred for apple computers, specially now they are nothing more than expensive pcs.
