Damn thing is sold out everywhere! looks like I am forced to wait a few weeks before i get my hands on one. I did go by the store and play with one and it is awesome! It is very very light and the screen is not as big as everybody made it out to be its just perfect IMO

I already got the HTC EVO (which I think is superior to the Droid X) and I'm glad. I'm a big fan of custom ROMs and kernels. The Driod X has a self-destruct that prevents you from messing with it. Loading any custom ROM dumps the phone into recovery and your dead.

i read an article that actually said that desrtuct craze was all myth and like i said it already has a root so obviously it was.

It's not a myth, it is just poorly worded.

Loading any custom ROM will cause the phone to boot only into recovery. From recovery, you have two choices. Use it as a door stop or re-flash the stock ROM. For someone who doesn't plan ahead for this with backups and such, their phone WILL be a brick.

And yes, it has a root out. That has nothing to do with this. That just gives you root permissions and has nothing to do with loading custom roms. The e-fuse still exists.

that is true but its the same efuse that is in the droid and milestone which have both been rooted and tons of roms on the droid. Its rooted and only a matter of time til the bootloader is cracked and custom roms out.

Yup. It's more of a principle thing. Motorola's typical attitude, "our product is already the best so there is no need for anyone to mess with it". My EVO had ROM's out before the thing was even released in June!

Nice!!! Its crazy to me how that happens. I mean the stuff isnt out yet are just barely and they already have all these "hacks" to them. Yeah verizon definately has that attitude but no matter what peple r going to find ways 2get into the system and do roms etc.

I ordered mine today! Ship date now says "by 8/26" but we will see i have heard it comes a lot faster than that.

So my hopes and dreams are crushed. I thought the Droid X had the actual keyboard but it's touch screen. Guess I'll be getting the Droid 2 instead.... Damn.

Got this phone yesterday and have been playing with it non stop! I was hesitant about the keyboard too but honestly this screen is a perfect size and typing on it is not an issue at all. I love how you can do the talk to text thing it helps alot in the truck. I am def still a newb when it comes to smart phones but does anybody else know what this tapatalk app is i keep hearing people say i must get. Its some sort of forum tool i guess
