Windows 7
I just installed windows 7 since i could get it for $30. it is amazing. it runs much more smoothly than xp, and i can get to my old files that didn't want to be erased and have freed up 15 GB already of old games on xp. i highly recommend 7 to anyone looking to upgrade, also run Google chrome as the browser. its better than firefox imo. the two together are great.

incredibly easy. if you have xp, you cant just upgrade. it will save all of your files into a folder called windows.old, lol. and then install the OS. all i had to do is type in the product key and it did the rest. took 3 hours to download, then 1 hour to install. very easy process

if you do have xp, it would be smart to back up all files onto an external harddrive. then you can just delete the windows.old file, i didnt, so its taking up 35 GB right now on my harddrive, ill get those moved later

Very easy. The part that can become difficult is restoring your old data and settings.
If you only use basic programs and save all your files in the my documents folder than it should be real easy, if you're like me and have a variety of various programs and program settings, as well as general files stored all over the hard drive then it becomes a little more time consuming.

And def backup your data to an external source, just to be safe. The upgrade should go smoothly, but you never know.
