Exclamation Power Supply or Motherboard or maybe something else?!?!?!

So I have googled, checked and tested somethings. On my HP Slimline today I drop something off the top of my desk and it hit the switch to the surge protector turning it off. Realized what had happened. Unplugged PC turned surge protector back on. Plugged PC back in and nothing happens. The green LED light on the power supply stays lit solid green when power is to the computer. But pressing the power button nothing happens. I took it apart tried to turn on but my hand thinking maybe power button loose or something still nothing. From google I read solid green LED means RAM or mother board I pulled my RAM out and still nothing. I tried different RAM that I have and nothing...So I'm at odds on what to do...I did find http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lenovo+-...t=i3&cp=1&lp=2 for a new tower maybe...since I don't know whats going on...

Sounds like your motherboard bit the farm. What do you do with the computer? Anything besides normal MS office, internet porn, etc?

Nope, nothing extreme, what are your thoughts on the link I had in the first post? FRF, Google, Facebook, and some kid sites for my son...some picture stuff but nothing extreme

Or other ideas for a tower? I don't need a moniter or anything like that just a tower...Intel Only...AMD and I don't see eye to eye and my dad would kill me haha he works at Intel lol

Then that will work just fine for you. You don't need anything ridiculous for those every day activities.

Probably. But shop around, your needs are very basic so don't break the bank on this.

Be careful with those things. Any balance you haven't paid off after 18 months will be charged for 18 months worth of interest. That's how people get screwed with those promotional credit cards.

Oh I know my I could have done 3 years too but I have set aside and made monthly payments so it will be paid off in about a year. Thanks for the tip though! I also got my TV this way when I moved into my house 2 years ago. I just paid that off and I had until March to do so. But I was very careful to make sure I would be paid off in time. And the interest rate they use to back charge you is HIGH! I could have paid it off today, but there are somethings that might pop up here soon that I need with my wife going into labor at anytime now we thought this would be a good idea as to not rack up items on other CCs! But your point is very well taken and good advice!

just to let u know ur mother board fried sucks those slim dont really last i worked on one i disconnected all the connections from the power supply and just connect the board if nothing happens ur board is gone. another thing to try is unplug the power supply hold downt the start up botton for 30 seconds to drain the excess power the try seeing if it goes up

if its been less then a year since u bought ur comp the manufacture will replace at no cost to u

and the 18 months is good but do the wall mart credit card its easier and better there warranty is alot better then any one a extended 3 years for 79 dollars and it covers alot more then any one else my own opinion
