Default BEWARE of Click.Giftload

My main PC somehow got penetrated last night with this nasty crap.

All my antivirus, antispyware, antimalware, antirootkit programs missed it and although they will remove it, the file re-installs itself on shutdown or startup.

If anyone has any idea on how to remove this thing permanently, please let me know.

Everytime I search for resources for how to remove Click.Giftload my browsers re-direct to random search pages that are probably full of viruses too.
It won't even let me go to some of my bookmarks now.

I've spent about 20 hrs in safe mode running all removal tools & it still comes back.

There are a few options, I just skimmed these. But hopefully they might help.

Thanks Richard,
I was able to find the safernetworking threads on this computer, but I've got a bad feeling I'm going to have to re-format my infected PC.

Stupid computers!

If you can, go to http://www.malwarebytes.org/ download the free version, install it, reboot in safe mood and run the program.

Might be able to pull off a system restore from safemode. Not sure if that would help or not if it's installing on boot/shutdown.

System restores are more for fixing corrupted files, or similar "oops" moments. Most malware simply infects the system restore points so a system restore is usually no help when dealing with malware.

I too got a nasty something. Probably from them damn porn sites

Anyhow, it completely wiped out Security Essentials with a look alike "windows 7 2011" Didn't matter what I did I could not wipe it off. I had to download Security Essentials on my laptop, save it to a SD card and then re-install it on the desktop. Got it figured out, but it sucks!

I had something about a week ago that no matter what I did, I could not get it off. Ended up having to wipe the hard drive and start all over. I was able to save all my pictures and music, though, lol.

Luckily, I've got all my important files backed up on 2 separate external drives.

I'm running malwarebytes, superantispyware, adaware, avg, spybot search & destroy, I'm behind a hardware firewall & software firewall & it still got through.... a couple of them will find it & remove it, but it re-installs on shutdown or startup.

From what I've read, it originates from a pop-up from some checkouts. Those stupid "you're invited to get $10 off" crap that I never click on anyhow.

It won't let that pc go to many websites, or when it does it re-directs to random fake search engines.

I just ordered a new 750gb drive to replace the old 500gb along with a new external enclosure. Once I have everything re-installed on the new drive, I'll install the old drive in the external case, erase & wipe the old drive clean & use it for another backup drive.

There goes about 2 weeks out of my Ranger mods time now

I'd love to kick some of the idiots that make that shit up right in the gonads, I don't know why they see the need to inconvenience people by sending spyware, malware, etc

That really sucks... to avoid the hassle in the future run your browser inside a sand box so the browser can't make changes to the system.
