I'm a fan of Classic rock myself. The new stuff just isn't as good in my opinion. Only concert I've ever bee to was ZZ Top and Ted Nugent... haha

However, I think that "basic" rock is dead...Except for the bands who are still alive and can still tour. One such band - AC/DC toured late last year and earlier this year. I managed to get 2nd row for it. Talk about time travel back to the past! This was one of the top 3 concerts I have ever seen, despite their age and mine. Brian Johnson's voice isn't what it was, but he's adapted and he puts in 100%. Angus hasn't slowed a bit on guitar. That man is wild! Here are some pics from the concert in D.C.

You lucky devil you. I'd love to have seen that myself. It's not dead, but it's not in the mainstream anymore. Rap music took over for a while and now it has become mainstream along with death metal bands. I like some rap but it has to be oldschool. The death metal stuff I don't really care for at all to be honest. I like groups such as AC/DC, Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue (man they look old now) and various others. Considering that these groups I mentioned are classic rock now says something. 2 of those groups I metioned are now in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. (AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne/Black Sabbath). I'm jealous now, L.O.L.

Well said.

One thing that is also common is for some bands to try and revive the past musical era, however they are often never in the spot light.

Lets say a band today plays music very comparable to classic rock, they wouldn't be played on the mainstream radio stations as classic rock is not mainstream, and they would not be played on classic rock stations as they are not classic rock. So basically, you have these bands that are kind of rejected by the best sources of publicity so not many people hear of them.

Yep, that's pretty much it right there. About the only way you can find some of them is via music downloads, or CD's. Alot of them that aren't mainstream often put together a "greatest hits" album if they were popular and well know enough. Certain radio stations of classic rock like the one I based my username off of plays a few things like AC/DC as well as a few others. 101.5 WQUT Tri Cities Classic rock. RicharddHoward listens to them all of the time when he is traveling in the Knoxville,TN area. I combined the numbers of the radio station with my old CB handle when I drove an 18 wheeler for a living. That's how I came up with my username for everything concerning the web.

I love classic rock, hard rock, heavy metal and almost all kinds of rock and roll. My favorite bands are AC/DC, Def Leppard and Firehouse. Today's music is okay but once I started listening to satellite radio a lot of doors opened to more music! I've been hearing AC/DC's black ice album released in 2008 and I love it! Rock is still there!

rock is like art... you cant judge it or try to tweak it, to each person it will have a different meaning. I enjoy "classic rock", 90's rock, 80's metal, black metal, death metal, stoner metal and shit that sounds like they drank drain-o before they walked into the studio. It really comes down to what you dig.

To answer the op's original question, yes... rock is dead, but its being reborn to some every day.
