Default Computer builders requested!

So here's what i'm looking to update on my gamer box:

Motherboard (all-in-one would be better)
Cpu (4-6 cores?)
Video Card (3 screens support, i know ATI does it nowadays)
Power Supply
Case

I'm planning to buy from www.tigerdirect.ca unless a local store matches the prices, so if you could link your suggestions from that site, i would greatly appreciate it. I have a long history with AMD, but Intel is fine as long as the budget is not blown. Of course, i'm not looking to buy the best machine around, just something that'll last me half as long as my single core has.

I'm looking to invest about 500$.

Thanks

CPU & Mobo: $224.97
Intel core i3 530 bundled with intel H55TC motherboard
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...5&Sku=B69-4083
Memory: $89.97
You didn't specify, but I will assume you want the best value

Corsair 4GB DDR3 -
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...4&Sku=C13-8220
Video: $161.99
Doesn't support 3 monitors, but best value for the cost

EVGA 01G-P3-1452-TR GeForce GTS 450 SuperClocked Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...55890&CatId=28
Case with PSU: $54.97
Powerup ATX case with 450 watt PSU
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...=TC3J-4050%20P

Total cost before tax and shipping: $551.90

Not a bad setup, but if possible I'd double the budget and 3 times the machine.

Just don't buy cheap memory and get an adequate power supply. And think about using Linux. That'll get you going on stability.

I agree that linux is great for stability, but for a gaming rig it's more frustration than it's worth. Only a small percentage of games are developed with a linux port, and running modern games through wine with direct3d support is more often than not either impossible or close to it. For any gaming setup, Windows is typically your best choice of OS.

Then again, if he didn't plan on doing much gaming, I'd also say without a doubt, go with linux

Ok you got a point. That part was a bad suggestion I admit.
But Alienware, whether you like 'em or not, has been surveying the possibility of selling gaming rigs equipped with Linux.

Bad move on their part, due to the aforementioned reasons. Although seeing as they're now owned and operated by Dell, a few bad mistakes here and there will be nothing out of the ordinary
