Anybody planning on picking up the DROID X when it comes out Friday. I was goin to upgrade to the HTC Incredible but now I see the X will be released and the screen is massive! Any thoughts or anybody have the Incredible that wants to promote it over the new X.....

IMHO, the Droid 2 sounds more appealing. The massiveness of a cell phone isn't always a good thing considering you're going to be sliding it in & out of your pocket.

The droid 2 comes out in Aug but I have heard the X is supposed to be a better phone. Either one should be pretty amazing phones. Im not sure if the droid 2 has flash 10 like the x does.

incredible has like an 8 mega pixle camera and an ability to use your phone as a wireless spot for a laptop but i belive that costs extra

From what i was told the Droid 2 will have flash 10 and the droid X will not have it as of the release date but it can recieve flash 10 update after the droid 2 comes out if that makes any sense.

So does the X

As far as what I have read any phone running the android system will be able to get flash 10 after it's upgraded to the 2.2 software.

As far as the droid x, I want! Haha huge screen, 1ghz processor, records in hd, hdmi output, 8mp camera, ugh ya, totally kicks the iPhone 4's ass

I wouldn't go that far.

Processing:
They both sport a 1GHz processor.

Display & Resolution:
While the Droid X has a larger screen, the iPhone 4 has a higher resolution screen.

Storage:
The Droid X does have the advantage in the storage department as they have an 8GB built in storage and a MicroSD card reader allowing them to expand to 40GB total.

Camera(s):
The Droid X has an 8MP camera where the iPhone 4 has a 5MP camera. Both have LED flash.

However, the iPhone 4 does have a front facing camera for pictures and video conferencing.

Output:
The Droid X does have an HDMI output where the iPhone 4 does not.

Connectivity:
The Droid X has better out of the box connectivity with its ability to serve as a wifi hotspot. However, once the jailbreak comes out for the iPhone 4 (very soon), you can get an app called MyWi 4 from Cydia that allows the same features withOUT the extra $20 a month to the cell carrier that the Droid X has.

Operating System:
Both are pretty good operating systems. With the ever improving mobile operating systems, it is hard to say that any operating system today is better over the other (including Windows Mobile).

App Store:
The iPhone app store has over 200,000 apps where the Droid app store only has around 70,000.

Carriers:
Verizon does have better/more 3G coverage than AT&T. The one spot AT&T is better than Verizon is in their 3G speeds.

I would rather have 3G that was slower, or any cell service for that matter, than not have service at all.






With that said, I have thought about switching from my 3GS on AT&T to Verizon and get the Droid X. My main reasoning is because my wife doesn't have cell service with her AT&T phone for almost 30 minutes of her commute to and from work every day. That is a long time that anything can happen and she will need a cell phone.

I have both a Blackberry Curve 8530 on Verizon (work phone) and an iPhone 3GS on AT&T (personal phone), so I don't necessarily have to switch to Verizon, but I would want a Family Plan so it would be cheaper since we don't have a home phone.

I have ran test on both phones via the same laptop at the same location in Louisville, KY and the AT&T 3G speeds are almost double what the Verizon 3G speeds are.

However, at my house I have 3G Verizon coverage and Edge AT&T coverage.

I'm waiting for the 2.2 on my droid. Rumors said it was coming out yesterday but I didn't get it.

Google has done a rolling roll out in the past. Meaning they give it to a set amount of customers per day. I would assume this is to keep the traffic on their update servers down.

Ya i thought the 15th was Friday O well now I can go play with it tmrw! I will let you know what its like. I am gonna give it a few weeks probably just to see if it has any problems before i make the purchase.

That is what I did for the iPhone 4. I had one delivered to me, but I didn't activate it. I took it back after the negative reviews and playing with a buddy's. I wouldn't switch from the 3GS until they fix the problems, have a jailbreak, and possibly come to Verizon.

If the iPhone goes to Verizon, I will switch faster than a John on a cheap hooker when a high priced call girl walks in.

Maybe I had it ass backwards lol. Other major thing is the hdmi out the x will have over the droid 2. Either way you will be able to port the flash 10 over to whatever one of them doesnt have it. If your droid is rooted you can get the flash 10 now
